There are two ways to immigrate to the United States: legally and illegally. The way that 11 million people have chosen to enter this country is to sneak across the border. They have chosen to break our laws and are criminals. So now they're protesting. So why isn't anything being done about it? There were probably thousands of illegals at these protests...why not go around and ask people for their green cards then? Correction: You have no damn idea how hard it is to move to another country if you are poor.

If you are loaded, you can go anywhere you want at any time.

The bottom line is that the vast majority of illegals are used by businesses and wealthy individuals. Businesses who use illegals can drive-down their labor costs hence it benefits US citizens. Individuals who hire illegals are typically wealthier people who either have trouble finding help in general or who aren't willng to pay $25/hour to hire someone to scrub their toilet.

Taxpayers don't want to pay for the social services and costs of these illegals, but businesses (who also pay a lot of taxes) need their services to remain competitive. Simply booting them out will only accelerate moving the jobs outside the country, and everyone loses when that happens.

What we need is an economic study on the true financial impact of these illegals.

Jimmy Carter did just that. He stated that if illegals reached Chicago or other "nuetral" cities, they would be granted amnesty and could work and file for citizenship. I believe that is still in effect today.

I don't know about anyone else but it seems that most live in poverty and still send most of their money to mexico. I'm crying and laughing at the same time. Crying because I can't believe how blind is the majority of Americans; laughing, because I predicted this several years ago. If you can stop an immigration protest in Canada of 200 illegals and deport them all, no sound will be heard. Canada has been doing things right from the first day. Here is too late to do the same. They are already millions and have millions of supporters. Who is guilty for that? American people who don't give a fuck about it because they don't feel affected by this (not yet but in 5 years your peacefull little town will be covered by foreign flags and you'll be crying like a bitch) and fucking politicians. First of all, scurbbing toilets and picking fruit don't pay decent wages because the jobs aren't worth minimum wage to begin with.

Second, yes, we are near full employment. Between people who don't want jobs, people who are unemployable, and people trapped by minimum wage laws, everyone who wants a job can get one. Is it the "dream job" they want? Probably not. But if they truly want *a* job, they can find one.

And finally... We are surrounded by countries with workers who will gladly accept lower wages and a lower standard of living. We are also in a global economy. That means we have two options:

1) We can build a wall around the US and keep illegals out, hence making our businesses less competitive and our consumer prices higher. Then, we can slowly let US businesses either fail or offshore to the point where our standard of living is at parity (as low as) the rest of the world.

2) We can use a relatively small number of this low-cost workforce and leverage them to keep US businesses more competitive and keep costs to the consumer lower. If being able to tap into a lower cost workforce means a few less businesses close or move offshore, the US as a whole will benefit.

I certainly don't support the destruction of our country... I support it's economic vitality. People who want to build a wall and stick their heads in the sand over global economics are deluding themselves.

I have a better cause for you... The vast majority of long-term legal immigrants into this country use work visas. Employers claim that these immigrants have a "special skill" that merits their entry into the US for work. Well, virtually none of these people have truly unique skills. It's a scam brought-on by employers to get skill labor for less.

Let's close that loophole. That's our *real* "open border". These people take high-quality, skilled, high-paying jobs from US citizens. Furthermore, they demand and recieve all of our social services... Their kids attend our schools, they use our police and fire departments... and they use our healthcare. All the while, these immigrants are the product of fraud -- both they and their employers are falsifying information to the INS.

Let's round these people up, truly test to see if their skill is "unique", and if we can find ONE of our 300 million US citizens who wants the job, deport the immigrant who falsified information.

So you have a "special skill" that no single dutch person in that entire country has? They have around $16M people, yet your skill is truly unique to those $16M?

If they can find someone who has a similar skill, shouldn't they boot you out?

Oh, and I played the "special skill" scam for years. We used to bring in Portugese machinists into the United States because US mold makers had their hearts set on $45 per hour to make molds for injection molding machines. All you had to do is say something goofy like "multi-stack thin-wall injection molds with hot runners and automated sproo picking". You just combine a set of specific skills to narrow down the number of qualified applicants.

And no... if you claim to have a special skill and there is someone else in that country who could fill that job, then you are ILLEGAL because you committed IMMIGRATION FRAUD to get that job.

It's just as illegal as running across the border, but just like running across the border, we don't enforce the laws against immigration fraud either.
