Paxil has given me my life back!!

it doesnt hook you but what it does do is give you brain shocks if you try to stop the drug....huge lawsuit against the company for not disclosing this to the public...if i knew this when i used it i think i would have no doubt tried something else.

This must be directly related to dosage, becasue I took Paxil for a while, only 20mg/day. It worked wonders but my sex drive was destroyed so I was forced to switch. I was told by my Dr. and pharmacist to wean myself off slowly over a two-three week period. It took me a total of three days. The brain shocks were present, but subsided very quickly. Xanax can help coming off as well.

Wow holy shit

I cant believe how many people here are taking antidepressants and anti anxiety drugs. Someone should start a poll about who takes what. The line of research I am in actually looks at the mechanisms by which androgens operate in a fashion similar to these drugs to reduce depression and anxiety. So far the key seems to be action of the metabolites of DHT acting in a fashion similar to benzos at the GABA-a receptor. Good news is as long as a cycle isnt to heavy it can temporarily alieviate some of the symptoms, bad news is when the HPTA is suppressed after a cycle, the effect is gone. I was wondering how many of you guys have found Benzos to be helpful in dealing with these issues.

Oh and Spunky, good luck with the withdrawl thing.

Getting off isn't that bad.Yeah I was dizzy for a week or two but so what?As long as you don't get anxiety when coming off.Nothing is as bad as severe anxiety.NOTHING!
And you can avoid this by coming off slowly like ove 2-4 weeks.

good thread topic, i see alot of paxil bashing around here and wasnt sure if it was all that they said it would be, i guess im gonna find out on my own then huh:) i dont know how well i can handle it if others found out i was taking it:confused: i dunno mabey when i start taking it i would care less if they did find me out:)

what are your thoughts on being "found out"

Don't tell people. It's your business only.

Good for you bud. I just started taking inositol, and although it hasn't completely taken care of my anxietyt, it has helped a good amount. I was wondering if any of you guys know anything about Xanax. I know how addictive it can be, but is this a good drug to take every once in a while if you have something to do that causes a lot of anxiety. Basically I want to know if you have to take it at a daily dose to work, or does it work as soon as you take it??

I am on 20mg ED of paxil. Me and my ex gf tried to maintain a long distance relationship and thats what sent me over the edge. We are no longer together. She came back last week for a week and all my happiness and energy went straight back to anxiety. When she is not here I feel fucking great and date other girls and have a good time. When she is here I am a mess and everything goes to the shitter. Paxil has helped me a lot to not worry about things, but it doesn't fix everything. I dont like being dependent on drugs so I am probably going to taper off in 4-5 months when my life will be taking a more positive turn. Dont get me wrong Paxil has helped me a lot and I dont regret taking it. It does take me forever to get off though. I can only go one round of sex now, on the second I limp up half way through. Its for this reason i havent bumped up my dosage.

In response to something that would help immediately my doc gave me clomazapan (spelling?) to help calm me down on the spot. I did very little research on it because I was freaking so I decided to just trust the doc. It is similar to valium and works nice and fast. Hope this helps. This board has been a great help in helping recognize and treat my anxiety. Doctors are good but they dont know everything and knowing the personal experiences of people on the boards lets you know what can happen and helps you make decisions about what to take. Docs in my experience are quick to prescribe, atleast at walk in clinics.

Keep feeling good

I tryed to research this, but I think the spelling is wrong. Does anybody know how to spell it??

i'VE ALWAYS BEEN A PROPONANT OF BB'S USING SSRI'S...IT'S POSSIBLE THAT EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF ANDROGENS MES WITH SEROTONIN RECEPTIVITY

Good to hear your feeling better. I remember reading your post several weeks ago when you told us you just started the Paxil. In July 1996, I suffered a severe head trauma and ended up in a coma, I did two weeks in neuro-intensive care. It took me 6 months to learn how to walk and talk again. I eneded coming out of it a lot stronger and smarter than I was pre-injury. That's actually what inspired me to start BB. However, you can't go through something like that and not have it change you in disadvantageous ways too.

I eventually was diagnosed with a sleep disorder which was brought on by depression caused by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. My Doctor has me on 75mg of Amitryptline(tricyclic SRI), I take it before I go to bed and I get minimal sides from it. I've been on it for three years now. I really empathize with the bro who's coming out of the darkness, good for you man.

Peace,
S.
