90% of those killed by a drunk driver are either
the drunk him/herself
also intoxicated passengers in the drunks vehicle
or other "drunks"

only less than 1 in 10 alcohol related fatalities is the sober innocent

I've been a mortician for over 13 years and have yet to encounter a death caused by a drunk driver

on the other hand I've probably pulled 2 dozen or more dead drunks from a wreck

You would know better than us about the numbers.

However, wouldn't you be a bit pissed off is THAT ONE sober innocent happened to be your child?... or wife?

Bottom line is that this bitch could have paid anyone and everyone to drive her irresponsible ass all over the freaking planet, not something that most who lose their licenses for DUI/DWI can afford to do. But instead she chose to thumb her nose and fuck up her probation royally, not once, but twice. Sorry but she gets ZERO sympathy from me.

I agree with her wealth she could have quite easily had her ass taxied around in style too
however, this is still a quite unusual punishment for a relatively frivilous probation violation
and yes she drove intoxicated and got a DUI
but she didn't harm anyone
with DUI's you get punished for what could have happened

the AMA(american medical assn) recommended a .15 BAC to be "drunk"
most states have it at .08 or so
politics

I've also read that it's estimated in urban areas that after midnight 80% of the drivers are intoxicated in some fashion

thousands and thousands driving "drunk" every weekend and really only the occassional fatal wreck

elderly who can barely see and with reaction times also severely compromised can continue to drive until they can't walk
and they kill

it's also said that yacking on a cell phone while driving impairs your ability to drive similarily to being intoxicated

but no laws against that

eat a big mac and talk on the cell phone
but by god have 4 drinks and you're evil incarnate

You'll get no arguement from me that A LOT of the laws make very little sense from a standpoint of the punishment fitting the crime. I also know that there are far more fatalities caused by people who fall asleep behind the wheel than those who are impaired. But that does not change the fact that she got nailed for violating probation for a DUI not once, but twice in a very short period of time - would give the impression that she really wasn't too concerned about the law. I am certain that her attorney cautioned her after the first violation - "If you do this again - you are going to jail."... dontcha think?

Bottom line - she fucked up. Now she is going to jail.

The fact that you felt the need to criticize of the public's response, followed by such statements as that the original charge was irrelevent, etc...tells me and others on the board that you simply don't understand the situation. You insead chalk up people's response to, as you said it, "miserable people with no lives or clue of how the detention system works wanna see a person posing little to zero threat to society suffer so much just cause she's a baller".

It doesn't take much intellect to access what was really going on, which is why the majority of the public was outraged by the unfolding circumstances which came into play in this case. But its been plainly obvious that you cannot intellectually grasp what everyone else plainly sees.

nobody would care if someone random schmuck got out of an overcrowded jail early for a dui followed by driving on a suspended license (and it happens all the time). the only reason people were outraged is because it's paris hilton, and everyone hates her. nobody is freaking out about the safety of their children crossing the street because paris hilton is at large.

but you can keep pretending that i'm a backwoods hick, even though i'm definitely smarter and more cultured than you are. you can continue to make ridiculous assertions about how "everyone plainly sees" that your point of view is correct - even though multiple people in this thread believe that both the public and legal response to her actions has been excessive. and sure, go ahead pretend that you don't care about what i have to say - even though you've taken the time to bitterly address everything i've written about you.
