Package doesnt pass border, wont get searched?

If a package is sent within the same country there is no way it will get searched is there? Is the only searching done by customs if it passes a border?

If it is sent domestic (does not cross international borders) customs is not involved. That doesn't mean it won't get searched. It just means if USPS searches it they have to have probable cause that something illegal or dangerous is in the package..
International packages can be searched for no reason at all. Just because it is entering the country gives customs the right to search it..
No questions are dumb. Just do some research before posting. It will save you some time.

There was a list once that gave all the things for them to look out for.

Things like too much postage used.

No return addy

Something leaking.

Somthing ticking

I forget the rest but as long as the package looks like any normal package you should be ok.

Interesting... what justifies probable cause? Suspicious packaging? a tip? So would you say this is not likely?

A private courier service doesn't need to justify RPG to open a package. In the eyes of the law, every package in their possession belongs to THEM, noone else. The safety of their employees supercedes your right to privacy(within the wrapped parcel). Before shipping, the sender signs a form, something to the effect... "no dangerous goods"..." no illegal activity"..."yada yada". Once a parcel in is their custody, its really in their custody, they have ownership of it. However, different laws govern the Postal Service(its a public corporation). They can not open parcels as freely as couriers can.

So, if your sending "items" through the mail domestically, use the Postal Service.
