Out Of Curiosity

I never had enough motivation or desire to stick with a routine that strictly used bodyweight related exercises, with no extra weight added (pushups, crunches, dips, pullups, squats, heel raises) for a long enough time to see what it ends up doing to you. Could anyone show me what it would look like? Maybe a friend you have, or an athlete or member of a special forces unit that doesn't lift weights or throw plates on his back or attached to a belt with any exercises?

I'm just curious to see what kind of results that could achieve.

I'd say you would be in shape...but very small and not very strong.

I would assume you'd lose a lot of muscle... I'm sure you could still look good skinny/cut though

lose muscle if you do body weight ?

I mean yeah he wont grow as fast and as much but why lose muscle

All I could find on Bo Jackson is that he's 6'1, 225 lbs. He's an athlete, so I doubt he's too fat. If he got to that size without weights, then that's insane.

Where did you hear about him claiming to never have used weights?

Any pictures of this guy? I can't find any.

I've heard the same about Herschel Walker. He did 1000 push-ups/sit-ups everyday. That's just hearsay though, not sure if it's the truth.

I used to know a dude in college that never used weights, he wa decently big, like 6'2 and 215-220, only pushups and pullups and running,etc... he was a good ass brawler too...

I could not believe he didn't lift till he told me...

a waste of time IMO if you want to be big or strong

i know a few guys who do this, but they were always naturally big and athletic. I think it would work your endurance more than adding muscle to your frame, but im sure it would cut you up nice

when you train in this manner its mostly for musclular endurance not for strength and size. speaking from the special operations point of view - i and most of my teammates incorp weight training into our workouts. most of the guys on teams are around 190-210, (with a couple of exceptions) im at 230. however we still need to have good muscular endurance as well as cardioresp fitness. how much help will being able to bench 500 get me to the chopper faster? it just depends on your lifestyle.

It depends at the level your at really. If you have 12-14 inch arms you probabally wont lose anything. I know if I did that Id shrink up real fast.
