If you're talking about Jimmy Bowden he also did that with reduced scholarships thanks to the NCAA violations Pat Dye's staff committed.

case in point about Bowden
back in '96-'97 I was married to a girl from an Aubrun family
went to an Auburn home game against Louisana tech
back when La Tech was REALLY an also ran
Auburn was favored by multiple touchdowns
La Tech led into the 4th quarter
I was concealing my hopes for La Tech
it was hot,and they were undermanned and playing over their heads and giving all they had
Bowden pulled a grade school level trick play in which a receiver lined up so close to the sidelines he appeared to be part of the guys on the sidelines
after much substitution to camoflauge the "masterfull" plan
of course the uncovered reciever caught the deciding TD

even his players had to feel like cheese
I would have
and I've played ball
3 different sports
wouldn't matter the shape and/or size of the ball,there's a sense of sportsmanship

Those two years were great! Suspension and all! That could have been a National Championship year!

Bobby is the dad, he's been coach at FSU since Jesus died. I'm thinking of Terry not Jimmy. Tommy is the Clemson coach. Jeff hasn't been a head coach yet.

at a school that's expensive and the education is highly regarded(Samford)
athletes on scholarship are there to obtain an education while providing the school and student body with an extra-curricular "identifying point" and entertainment
heard of a scholarship athlete receiving a "career" ending injury
Terry Bowden yanked his scholarship
effectively ending his education at the institution

it's weird how older men behave,though I'm 42 and very well may fall in many's idea's of an older man
10 years or so ago
I had at least had developed enough observation talents
give me a few minutes to observe a guy in a group in an environment requiring him to perform decisions or at least react
and I could form a decent opinion on the guy in question inside of 20 minutes
most men's failings and/or shortcomings can be explained by either penis envy or the napolean complex

Oh yeah, the school boosters plane belonged to Bobby Lowder's Colonial Bank ,one of auburn's trustees, who has been said to be the puppet master of the school!
