opinions on my testosterone values

New member
hey guys

39 yo male
6' 1"
190 lbs
been training seriously for 23 years

have been feeling depressed with low sex drive and poor-quality erections for a few months. my dad has low testosterone so i got mine checked. i picked up the results today:

total testosterone: 419 ng/dL
free testosterone: 16.5 pg/mL

any thoughts on these values? i thought they were a little low. any opinions/suggestions would be welcome.

thanks guys.

Was it an Endocronologist? They look kinda border line low but not terribly low. Ask for reccomendations from Dr, it looks like it could possibly be going towards HRT but you may still have opportunity for natural improvement. I dunno, my 2 cents. Do a thyroid test, etc and then see what results could be.

thank you for the reply. the test wasn't done through an endocrinologist - it was just through a clinic that does blood work. since the values are within the "normal" range, the clinic really didn't have anything to say about it.

You are at the low end of the range.
How is your blood pressure?
PSA?
Cholesterol levels?
Liver and kidneys?

You can ease into some low dosage hrt or even hgh and see what happens over 6-12 months.

Do a search in this Forum and read up.

thank you for the reply.

my blood pressure isn't bad: it's in the 120's / 80

when i had my test levels checked, i also had them do a complete metabolic panel, and everything was good - so liver and kidneys seem to be fine.

cholesterol was a little high at 224, but since then i've modified my diet to eliminate cholesterol and saturated fats. i'll have cholesterol rechecked in a couple weeks, and i'm confident that my numbers will be much improved.

psa wasn't checked in my blood tests.

i know my testosterone levels aren't horrible, but i would really prefer them to be a little higher. it seems like total test and free test could stand to be doubled.

here is what i have been considering based what i've learned from much reading on this site:

andromen cream: 1 gram per day (supplies 50 mg testosterone)
hcg: 100 IU per day,
possibly arimidex: 3x per week. not sure of the dosage on that, though

if anyone has any thoughts/suggestions on that, i would be grateful.

thank you
