Opinions on Diet Plan

I have arrived to some sort of a diet plan but I still have a few questions. I was thinking about the Isocaloric diet or even a 40/30/30 split with carbs/protein/fat. Calories will be somewhere between 2000-2500 each day. Last time I did empty stomach/morning cardio 5 days a week and lost a lot of fat and muscle. This time I figured I would do 20min morning cardio, moderate pace, every other day and take some BCAA and ECA before hand to minimize muscle loss. I may also add in some evening high intensity cardio to keep metabolism up. First off, how does this plan sound? Anything really wrong with it. Second, how much BCAA and ECA should I be taking and when should I take it? My only goal here is to lose fat without losing a lot of muscle. I already looked at CKD and such but decided on this type of diet instead so don't bother suggesting it.

It all depends on your stats...
at 2000 cal/12, your weight would have to be 166 for you to achieve fat-loss.....
Overall, the plan sounds fine, but the cal and amounts of supplements should most likely be determined by weight...

Your plan is pretty close to weight x 12, which is good for your goals. I would say the plan is good. I would take ECA (1 cap) 2x times a day and BCAA about 4g after workouts w/ creatine and your pw shake.

Shouldn't the ECA + BCAA be taken before early morning cardio to minimize the catabolic effect?

I wouldn't bother, then you'd be using the aminos for energy instead of using bodily caloric expenditures.

I have never really been interested in supplements and the only reason I had considered these two has because I had thought that the 2 together minimized muscle loss while keeping fat loss at normal levels. This is especially important to me because of my last experience with early morning cardio. Will these supplements taken later in the day have any effect on my early morning cardio session the next day? That's really all I am looking for. Thanks all your help too. :)

I'm not talking about the two together, I'm talking about Aminos...you should take ECA before your cardio for better fat-burning expenditures, but leave the BCAA's for post workout where they will do the most good. BCAA do not prevent muscle catabolism when doing cardio, that's a myth.

Ok, one more question for ya. If the purpose of ECA is just to provide an extra boost for the exercise then why would you recommend taking it twice a day instead of just before every workout?

It also blunts appetite...that's one of the more primary purposes...

Ok, thanks for clearing all of that up for me. I was over at proteinfactory.com looking for BCAA but I didn't see any ECA stacks anywhere. Is there someplace in particuar that you recommend getting ECA from?

NO place that's better then the next...Have you thought of trying NYC (norephedrine, caffeine, yohimbine hcl)...that's simular to ECA but yields more fat-loss (generally).

www.anabolicfitness.com
AF store carries it

I have been reading a lot about both of them and I decided to go ahead and try the NYC before you had even replied to this post. I figure that a single tablet of this NYC would be the equivalent to a cap of ECA, is this correct? This will be the first time I have ever taken any kind of supplements other than a MV so I want to make sure I do everything right. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out and answer some basic questions.

that's relatively correct, I think mg to mg, norephedrine is more effective

good luck and feel free to ask, I'm always here

Another question, if I am going to be taking in protein for 40% of my diet is the BCAA really needed? Won't I get all the amino acids I need from all that protein? After reading a couple of other threads from earlier in the year this topic had come up once in a while but I couldn't really find a good answer to it.

BCAA can be helpful even w/ sufficient protein intake, for they are a fast source of "protein" (so to speak), they also promote anabolism and GH to a higher degree. So, adding a little w/ postworkout shakes should not hinder, if anything it would help.
