Open letter to George Spellwin

(as Mr. Spellwin does not receive PMs I can posting this publically for his attention)

Mr. Spellwin, I'd like to make a brief proposal. It concerns a secure area for female members.

Since you created the women's chat area, which I appreciated, I felt a real need to make it, or some other forum a secure area for women only to view or post. I believe I can speak for other female members when I say we often have to edit ourselves due to male eavesdroppers. This kind of forum would provide two things for us: we could be reasonably assured we are being heard only by other women, AND we are able to discuss very personal, perhaps embarrassing things in anonymity.

Here's my idea for creating a secure area. Any member of one year or more with a female gender flag will be added to the list for viewing of the secure area. (I feel that if a guy has maintained an account as a woman for that long he probably has gender issues anyway and should be allowed to view) Newer members with the female flag on could be added on a case by case basis using the content of their women's forums post as criteria. Posters could choose to speed up that evaluation period by making phone contact with a moderator.

Like you, I do appreciate the danger of possibly alienating authentic new female members. However, I feel that if the reasoning behind this policy is explained fully then new women will appreciate both the goal we have in mind but also the vigilance with which we pursue it.

I appreciate your attention.

regards,

Sulma Florez

Oh I've tried since this forum was created.

It's not gonna happen.
Maybe it will change after the upgrade this month.

S

I had asked about this a few times since you and I PMed about it.

I think a year is too long and you will exclude a lot of members. I think it should be six months. Less than that if they have created genuine posts, like logs, in the Women's forum.

thanks for the reply. I may not have fully articulated that point.

Let me be clear, I certainly do not advocate requiring anyone to wait one year for admission to the secure forum.

At the secure forum's inception, those female members who have already been EF members for one year or more would automatically be added to the secure forum list. Members for less than one year would be added to the secure forum list via one of the other two procedures I outlined. Making a judgement on someone's sex based on their post content would be the most time consuming method, but I certainly wouldnt expect it to take anything close to a year.

Perhaps there could be established a requisite post minimum for all newer members, after which a moderator rereads the posts and makes a judgement regarding admission.

As post count is already a criterion the site uses for other privelages that would seem to the most elegant solution.

Ladies, what do you think?

Mr. Spellwin, this thread is still intended for your review. What do you think?

great idea. dont realy understand why it hasnt already been done. If money is an issue, then I think enough of us are plats to make it work. (not saying you should HAVE to be plat to participate) I dont post much here but would probably be more inclined to participate in intimate/personal/female descusion if I didnt have to anticipate so much testosterone in the replies. maybe we should put together a petition so George can get a true picture of our numbers?

well male members cannot actually reply to threads in this forum, but reading it is allowed to anyone, and that's the change I advocate.

Just think of how unnatural this situation is for us. When do we ever commence serious girl talk within earshot of men? Never once seen it in my entire life.

perhaps this thread could end up serving that purpose. :)

theres always the Iron Angel chat forum where girls are the only ones actually in there and the only ones that can post.
We have taken steps to make sure that no men are allowed in there. For one, you have to be a member to view the forum and i believe at least Miss24k has actually put her logs in there instead of EF because its so private:)

Another open letter:

Dear Mr Spellwin,

Please, do not send me any posts regarding anabolic steroids. I am not in the least interestred in them and I will never use any steroids, because I compete in athletics, where it is strictly forbidden to use them. My heart and conscience also forbid me to use any drugs and I feel enraged every time I get offers to use them. I am sorry if I am sounding too rude, but this topic really makes my emotions show.

Yours, Katri Losonen
