(as Mr. Spellwin does not receive PMs I can posting this publically for his attention)
Mr. Spellwin, I'd like to make a brief proposal. It concerns a secure area for female members.
Since you created the women's chat area, which I appreciated, I felt a real need to make it, or some other forum a secure area for women only to view or post. I believe I can speak for other female members when I say we often have to edit ourselves due to male eavesdroppers. This kind of forum would provide two things for us: we could be reasonably assured we are being heard only by other women, AND we are able to discuss very personal, perhaps embarrassing things in anonymity.
Here's my idea for creating a secure area. Any member of one year or more with a female gender flag will be added to the list for viewing of the secure area. (I feel that if a guy has maintained an account as a woman for that long he probably has gender issues anyway and should be allowed to view) Newer members with the female flag on could be added on a case by case basis using the content of their women's forums post as criteria. Posters could choose to speed up that evaluation period by making phone contact with a moderator.
Like you, I do appreciate the danger of possibly alienating authentic new female members. However, I feel that if the reasoning behind this policy is explained fully then new women will appreciate both the goal we have in mind but also the vigilance with which we pursue it.
I appreciate your attention.
regards,
Sulma Florez
