one rep max calculator

The only real calculator involves you and a bar...

Thanks for posting the link though...it might help a few people here set up a 'rough idea' for their training percentages.

heheh, i figured you guys would respond like this. yeah, i tried it just once and i did not like what it told me... so i'm not planning on using it again. i just put it up cause it might be useful to other people tho! ;)

They are an estimate and starting point, nothing more.

For me, my 1rm is always above what they estimate.

It is pretty close for me... around 40 pounds under on squats and deads... but pretty accurate for the most part.

Here's a better site:

http://www.sover.net/~timw/orm.htm

It has all the different types of calculations you might want to use for estimating 1RMs and/or estimating poundages for a set number of repetitions based on your 1RM.

This one seems to be more accurate... I put in 455 x 10 for squats... which I have done before... and it came up with 607 as the max... which I have hit 600 for 3. So this one might be better.

These calculators are far off. If you do not do singles, your max is probably not any higher than your 5 rep max. When I posted lifts I did for reps I tried to explain that when someone tried to calculate my maxes. Sure I was up to 3 reps for 455 on the flat bench, but I gaurantee you, that having only handled that weight twice EVER, I would not have been able to do 465 for a single. People with different fiber distribution and levels of neural efficientcy are going to have dramtically different maxes. For example, you could take a group of guys who train differently and have differing levels of fiber distribution and neural effincy who all bench 315 for 8. One of them may have a max bench of only 325, while another might be able to handle 465. Those calculators cannot take in all possible factors.

To tell you the truth,

those equations are really accurate for me. Its always nice to get a good ball park range.

After all, I am not a powerlifter so I could care less about max lifts. I do like to train heavy.
