One of Our Marines Went UA.

Marine Corps' way of saying AWOL. He upped and outted a few days ago. We thought he was hurt at first because it's not like him. He was 2 weeks away from being promoted and getting his good conduct medal. 2 weeks from now he could've basicly have gotten away with murder in my shop, and showed up late as much as he wanted.

His old roommate called UA Marine's wife's friend to see what was up. She told him UA guy was sick of being in and took off. Dude has appx one year on his contract. Less counting his terminal leave. All of it gone.

When he first disappeared two thoughts ran through everyone's minds. 1) He got hurt really bad and couldn't contact us. 2) He went UA. Kind of hoped it to be number 1 not because we want him hurt, but we don't want to believe he actually went UA.

NC. There's nowhere to run in Iraq and be safe. His home town is about an hour from here.

Basicly they just up and left. Didn't show up for formation on Thurs and has been gone since.

I wish. Been trying to volunteer for months now. But unfortunatly I dicked up my shoulder bad enough that I'll have to get surgery before summer ends and my contract will have expired before I'm 100%.

Well, standard except in case of war, it would be bumped up to a Summary Court Martial offense in the Navy, instead of NJP. He's going to get at best a Big Chicken Dinner and brig time.
