One last 5x5 question

Today = Delts and back......5x5 on deads and 5x5 on seated dbell press........does anyone do 5x5 for back and then the 5x5 for delts finishing with 4-5 sets of 8-10 for each afterwards?

If I start on deads, I'm too anxious and thinking too much about my 5x5 on dbell press, so I was pondering the idea of doing them back to back....any thoughts?

OR.....what if you did your back routine in the am and then the delt routine in the PM.....1/2 hour each........

Well

I split my lower and upper back to different days. I do upper back (i.e. lats) on the same days I do arms and bech, and leave lower back for rows etc on leg days. I find this works pretty good since my lower back natrually gets some workout with squats as well.

GREAT! didn't answer my question at all, lol, but thanks for the post.......My routine is Chest/calves, Back/delts, quads/hams and then arms.......anyone try my initial question?

I'm no fan of moving the pump from one extreme to the other, I.e. hams and quads and then arms and chest on same day...way too much for my taste..........

I do delts and back together I superset lat raise with my deads!! its a good superset. Otherwise i do barbell rows 5x5 as well and than do 2x10 lat pulldown so i do 12 sets total. I don't know on the 5x5 doing reps up to 8-10 don't really do it for me, i'll do like 2 sets at most but mainly keep everything 5x5.

hmmm....ok....next....lol.....all I want to know is if anyone does 5x5 of the one major lift and then 5x5 of the next 5x5....no need to post yout rouitne..........needsize, maybe a question for you brotha....

thats exactly what my roommate does, gets both of his 5x5 out of the way, right in a row. I dont see how it would be a problem, just take about 4min to rest in between

Matt- you are the fing man...........that's all I wanted to know bro ..was how people liked it, as the anxiety kills me....I'll slam it tonight and report back....karma bratha

i do my 5X5 sets first as well and then the "accessory" exercises. i just like to get my big lifts done first while i have the most energy. it works well for me...

i just did the workout yesterday, it's badass, give it a shot if you like, i love it.

back

rev. grip pulldowns (taking a month off from weighted chins)
2x8-10
deads
5x5
bent b.b rows
2x8-10
pulldowns (nice & controlled to really work the lower traps and rhomboids) 2x8-10
shrugs (behind the back)
2x10

delts

hammer strength shoulder press
5x5
side laterals
2x10-12

it took me just slightly over an hour

Not looking for a routine, but thanks for the help....mine is severely intense and I'm pretty against using machines when I can use free.........sub. hammer for either OHP or dbell press....lose the lat pulls for chins, etc...you'll reap the benefits...

Personally I would go with 5x5 with OHp first cause after deads I am wiped out and doing standing presses with a blasted lower back is very tough. Then go from a shoulder excercise to a back for two rotations and you are done, the blood doesn't pool and you get some good rest time

I like your split choice it's similar to mine
Monday legs
Tuesday chest
Wednesday rest
Thursday back shoulders
Friday arms

On back and shoulder day I start with deads for 5x5 the 2x10 with pulldowns and 2x10 with cable rows. Then I move to shoulders to do 5x5 with barbell seated OHP, 2x10 with lateral raises and 2x10 with rear delt work.

I would stick with doing back all the way through and then shoulders.

Well, I'm not going to, but thanks anywho......deads 5x5 first and seated oh press 5x5 2nd...then all back and then all delts....maybe some trap work if it's <1 hour............

what I've done for years now is start with 5x5 shoulder press, then in between sets of side laterals I warm up for deads, so as soon as shoulders are done I start the heavy sets for deads

Just realized, I'm gonna be screwed.....I'm using dbells (love the feel/stretch) for my 5x5...problem is, when I get to 100lbs, I won't be able to go higher....should I switch over to OHP or starting hitting 100's for 6,7,8.......eventually....
