How much of your AAS success would you attribute to your diet and absolutley eating your ass of? Bulking of course, do you ever refrain from eating anything? My biggest concern is not eating enough because I've been ripped and shredded for so long. Mind will not allow me to just slam the cals. Can you bros do me a favor a post your bulking diet? Do you endulge? I mean things that you wouldnt touch when you cut, but slam while you are bulking? Subway, protein bars, deserts, out to dinner, buffetts, etc.

I don't want to see myself over 11% bf (currently around 6-7), but on the other hand, I know first hand that restricting foods will be a complete waste to my cycle that Ive planned for wayyyy to long!

K to all!

Heres the one that shot me up to 280lbs!

What is the most anabolic substance known to man? If you said food then you are 100 percent correct. It is absolutely impossible to put muscle on without enough nutrients to support the process. You can train day after day, month after month, and still see absolutely nothing new in the mirror if you are not eating enough.

Taking this into consideration, it would stand to reason that the more food you consume, the higher an anabolic response your body will have after a brutal workout. So if you were looking for a muscle building magic bullet then you have no further to look than your refrigerator! Go stand in your kitchen for a minute. Look around, you are completely surrounded by the most anabolic substance in the world! You can almost feel its power as if the cabinets were about to explode. For if you consume the correct amount of macronutrients you will undoubtedly experience a surge of muscle growth that you never imagined possible!

Everything I have ever done has been to the extreme. Whether at work or play I have always attempted to break barriers. I believe that this is the mentality a bodybuilder must have if he/she is to succeed! Therefore, you can imagine what transpired when I first discovered the anabolic power of food. I stuffed myself with it!

Make no mistake about it, you will never become huge on 2,500 calories a day! No matter what any sell out magazine tells you. I know that allot of you are thinking, " what about my abs? I don't want to lose sight of them." Have you ever seen pro bodybuilders in the off season? They are tanks! Lee Priest competes at 225 and has gotten up to 300 pounds in the off season. While I am not going to ask you to go to these extremes, you must sacrifice by gaining a small amount of fat if you ever hope to add serious muscle mass. Guess what? When you diet the fat off after a bulk, your abs will still be there, and with them, a whole new layer of lean muscle mass that you can show off at the beach! Remember bodybuilding is a process of building the body up and then chiseling it down again. You must understand that you cannot build anything without the proper materials and that is what "Diet" is all About. Here's what I am going to do, I will post a mass building diet that is meant to build muscle, while keeping fat gain to a minimum. I will accomplish this by sticking with extremely clean eating!
Components :

Protein - I can talk all day long about the importance of protein! But I will sum it up by saying that this macronutrient contains the building blocks of muscle tissue! Without the proper amount of protein you can kiss muscle gains goodbye! I would recommend a minimum of 1 to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight a day from sources such as chicken, fish, turkey, steak, skim milk, egg whites and protein powders. Therefore, if you weigh 200 pounds, you should consume 200 to 300 grams per day. Lastly, I would stay away from foods such as bacon and ribs. All the meat you eat should be lean.

Carbohydrates - Obviously you cannot induce muscle growth without intense workouts. Well, there is no way that you can train at an optimal level without the bodies chief source of fuel. The Carbohydrate. This macronutrient not only fuels us, but it releases one of the body's most anabolic hormones in response to its ingestion. This hormone is called insulin, and it increases the uptake of protein into our muscles tremendously. Carbs also spare protein so that it can be used to build muscle as opposed to being burned as energy (see note). You should consume 2.5 to 3.5 g of carbohydrates a day. That said, a 200 pound man would consume 500 to 700 grams of carbs a day from complex carbohydrates such oatmeal, and wheat bread.

Note: The body has the capability to convert other macros into glucose. Such a process is known as gluconeogenesis. Mr. Knowlden discusses this in The Window Of Opportunity. Here is an excerpt:

Cortisol literally converts muscle tissue to proteins for conversion into glucose. This is your body’s way of producing energy when all readily available energy (glucose) and stored forms (glycogen) of energy have been expended. To compensate for this depletion of energy, your body will go into a process called gluconeogenesis to produce glucose from amino acids in the liver. The end result of this process? Hard earned muscle used as energy, and all potential gains becoming null and void.

Essential Fatty Acids - Fat intake, namely from EFA's, are vital to your progress. Essential Fatty Acids help with countless areas in our bodybuilding lifestyle. For more information on this, refer to, Essential Fatty Acids - An In Depth Analysis.

Calculating Your Calories

I discuss caloric calculation in 13 weeks to burning fat the diet. You can go to the exact section by clicking here. Once there, find the amount of calories it would take to maintain your current bodyweight. Here is what you must understand: even though food is extremely anabolic, a general rule of thumb, is that the higher you raise your caloric intake, the more fat you will store. You can minimize this through clean eating, and slowly raising your calories. For example, say your maintenance is 3, 000 calories per day, you might tack on an additional 250 calories the first week to increase muscular gains. On that low an increase, fat gain will be negligible to non-existent! If weight gain fails, then increase your intake slowly again.

i am have a wide range of food on this bulk, lol. I start eating clean pretty soon tho. However I am going to try the very clean bulk after competition. You can get away with eating cheat meals prett often, or i can at least, and not notice fat gain on cycle. im pretty sure got my diet. some variation in there now, but i need to start eating more clean starting june1st

I've been clean for years...I know what that entails, trust me...my question is, how many of you stray from the norm and just slam everyone now and then. I want to toss in a few cheat meals a week, I want that huge sub, I want that buffet and those protein bars, just need the convincing.....

I guess my biggest problem is that I sit ALLLL day in an office. So Im not very active for 8 hours. Sure I do am cardio and train pm, but I'm resting for the day and cant fathom WHY i need to gorge.......do you guys eat shit on some days?

Its normal to crave an occasional donut on bulking days.
I wouldn't make it a habit tho.

when bulking, 4-5k cals is about my normal intake.
2x workotus per day along with creatine and plenty of sleep..

shit..
i made good gains on that cocktail WITHOUT gear last pct.

Bro, when bulking it is fine to enjoy an occassional desert and definitely hit the buffets. Bulking is like smoking a joint, eat/munch as much as possible and make sure you get your rest in. An occassional blunder in your diet is OK. You can be anal when you cut. :chomp:

I never cheat even when bulking. It just causes me to feel like shit, and when I feel like shit I cant push large amounts of weight, which makes me sad...lol. Absolutly never for me at least, butter, white anything, fried anything, fast anything but subway I dont care if its a damn salad it will still have reminence of some other nasty mcdonalds food on it. No pizza, ice cream, simple general sugars like candy or pop, no chocolate or sweets. I am happier than a pig in shit just to be able to eat subway red meat and cereal and milk the rest dont even sound good to me anymore.

It seems when I eat all those types of shitty foods I bloat like a bitch. Then it takes me at least a week to lose all the water weight. Then I seem to lose all my motivation to train and am lethargic as hell when I feel like a flabby fuck. Pizza, fried foods and sugary soft drinks are perhaps some of the greatest foods known to man, but damnit my system doesnt like them one bit. FYI I've been following RADAR's diet plan, albeit the calories modified for my needs for about a month and if I eat only those sort of clean foods I can pack away the calories, grow, get stronger and not be a jiggly mess.

It all depends. Depends on your metabolism, what BF% your body likes to keep naturally, what level your at when you begin bulking. So many things. I like to stay on the lean side even when I bulk. I do beleive you must be willing to deal with putting on some BF when bulking, but not that you have to go to extremes. I like to always keep sight of my abs. You gotta find that certain point for yourself. I am a lot more conciencous of carbs today that I used to be, as I have a better understanding of diet and what diet habits work for me. Days I hit the weight s i take in more cabrs and switch to protien/fat the last 2-3 maels of the day and on non-workout days I eat 2 carbs meals for my first 2 meals and the protein/fat for the rest of the day. I hit the weights 3x a week currently and cardio 2-3x a week. I have one day a week that is a non workout day where I jsut eat whatever all day long. i just don't go super super crazy. I still get protein in every 3 hours and while I eat "bad meals" I don't gorge myself like I used to. And that's how it is for me.
Know thy body and see what works for you.

To slyder and radar....so a typical week.....you might have a few subways, or a protein bar or two, maybe a candy bar or a slice of pizza, but nothing like a big back, large fry, milkshake, etc?

it depends bro. do u put on weight easily if u cheat while your off. cause if i dont' eat like fat ass i will lose weight in a day. the other day i went to see the new star wars and the 2.5 hours with only popocorn and coke took 3 fuckin pounds off me. i had to down protein like whoa the next day. i am a super ectomorph, i eat a whole bag of donut gems a day and i am still a shredded guy, who needs more mass. i say if you can eat what u want do it. but if cheating hurts u stick with radar's badass diet. yes you can cheat while bulking.

Hell yeah! i've slipped up and devowered a 24" pizza before.
Sometimes you just get those cravings that drive you mad and nothing is gonna help until you suceed in getting what you want.

on the average, how many times a week would you say you eat something OTHER than the typical meat, potatoes, oats, veggies, etc.

im the same way, i used to think that it sucked that i had to eat so much just to maintain, but once you see the guys that eat a cookie and gain a lb of fat i didnt mind eating so much. hell i have a cheat meal almost everyday, no fast food, but some days ill down 5 donughts on my drive to work with a protien shake. like was said b4 everybody is different.

I have absolutely no desire to eat junk.......seriously..........but, subway sounds pretty damn good....a good steak and pasta dinner and a bottle of wine sounds good....a slice of pie and ice cream sounds good..a bagel and cream cheese or mac and cheese sounds damn good.....a half a loaf of bread with hot butter and cinnamon with my doen eggs sounds good............I dont want friggn chocolate or donuts or crap. Just stuff I normally wouldnt eat......you know the drill.........

So far I've gotten away with one or two cheat days during the week. Usually I consider this substituting the meat in my meals ( generally light tuna or chicken) with burgers I make myself ( 85% lean) with maybe a little ketchup, but usually just hot sauce. However a couple beers even once a week is a no-no. Try telling your anti-health friends you no longer drink because it isn't part of your diet. No matter, when the joking gets out of hand I just blast them with a tuna-oatmeal fart. That usually shuts them up... because they can't breathe !

nah , you got the wrond idea there bro.....I havent cheated in years, but a glass of wine or a beer or two isnt out out of the equation. As far as burgers and ketchup??? Cmon, I eat read meat 4-5 times a week......mustard and ketchup by the pound........thats far from cheating...lol.

I've been 240 before eating whatver, not knowing shit about nutitrion, just slamming....and lean too.....but that was college, I'm afraid my metabolism has slowed way down, even though Ive never even been chubby. Fing mind game....

You know your body better than anyone else. Eat like you need to and don't be afraid. Enjoy your bulk. It seems like an entirely different world to get used to but when you see the new dencity and the veins popping out b/c they have no where else to go...... thats when you'll think back and wonder "What the hell was I scared of???" You already know you can rip up so I say GO FOR IT. Ripped is the look but BIG AND RIPPED is the goal. For you it is well attainable bro.... Best of luck to ya bro.
