On vs. Off: More complicated than it sounds

Guys,

On my first cycle, I found that it was better to do more sets and exercises while on. I got massive pumps and great recovery. I felt great (physically) and I liked that.

I know I can't train like that off. I'll have to instead focus on fewer exercises and also stick to really anabolic exercises, such as squat.

Squats are the king of all mass-building exercises. We all know that. The problem I have is that my legs just keep growing too much. Don't get me wrong, I love doing heavy squats. I just don't want to have huge thighs. My pants won't fit and I look too unbalanced.

When I'm on, I won't do any squats. The most I'll do for legs is deadlifts, running, and pilates. I like pilates mostly for the rippedness it's giving to my midsection, but that's an aside.

What should I do to be more anabolic when I'm off? I'll also be doing pullovers, push-presses, bench presses and...

... and what?
 
well im not sure what to do to be more anibolic

but as for you legs getting bigger and your pants not fitting, you can buy new ones.

and for piliates ripping up your midsection..... diet and cardio rips up your midsection, not the exercise.

Eat more.

It's possible that your upper body muscles don't have the same fiber type/ratio as your lower body. Maybe you should train it differently. Consider that your legs might not too big, it's just that you're upper body's too small. The symmetry is off, not the size. :)
 
You're half right, Spatts. My chest is too small. My arms are big (don't care). My back is pretty well-developed, but my chest is too small. My legs would be about the right size if my upper body were bigger, but I don't want bigger legs.

Try finding pants in 29x34 with big legs that is not hip-hop fashion.

Bent-over BB rows are another powerful exercise. After reading
The Big Four, I think I'll be adding clean and press.

try finding 42x 32 with over 32 inches for the thighs.........

I hoped for suggestions regarding natural training for testosterone production and maybe tips on how to avoid excess hypertrophy (for my legs).
 
Good question....

I would say that deadlift is equally good if not better for creating a anabolic enviroment than squats.
The 3 compound excercises: squat, dead and bench will all boost gh levels to a degree, and test to a lesser degree, when moving heavy poundages. They will also speed up your metabolism for a few days, so if your trying to boost gh with these, remember to up the cals, otherwise it may actually be detrimental to gains!!

Other than that I would fight the battle from the diet side. Try avena sativa to lower SHBG, which will then increase your free test. Muari puima (excuse spelling), also helps to lower SHBG too, I think. I also supplement with 50mg zinc ED when off, and ensure you get enough cholesterol, strange suggestion I know, but all hormones derive from cholesterol, so I try to get at least 1 egg yolk ED, if you keep other sat fats low this will have no effect on lipid profiles.

Incidently, when I'm off I don't worry so much about getting test and gh high, but keeping cortisol low, by getting quality sleep, often with melatonin supp, and eating 30g protein every 2 hours, and avoiding stress and long periods of aerobic activity.
 
Ah cholesterol, the great prohormone. I've been eating lots of egg yolks -- at least 3 a day.

I was also eating lots of raw almonds in whole foods (good source of EFA's). They're expensive , so I was just hangin out in the bulk food area chowin down.
