? on tonsilitis

My throat has been hurting for about a month. not in the back, but only on the sides, kind of directly on the sides of that little hangy ball is.

Im figuring this is tonsilitis correct?

You'll have to define hurting. I had it once a month for 3 months straight and it's not a pleasant thing. I could barely swallow and the pain was almost unbearable. You should have white puss on them and you shouldn't be able to see the dangly thing in the middle b/c you tonsils(sp?) will swell right up next to them. At least that was my experience with it

my brother just got over his tonsilitis.His throat was nasty crusty white,and red.He would get really sick for about a week at a time because of it.The doctors these days dont realy like to take them out,they would rather just medicate them into submission.There is a rule of thumb that if you get sick from it around 6 or 7 times,then they will remove them.

Ive only gotten sick 3 times, but it does suc, i dont have that mucus stuff though

If you start getting fevers when your tonsils swell up I recommend you remove them because your life will become hell...I used to get sick every month before I took them out, my throat would swell up and I would get so sick...since I've gotten them out I hardly get sick anymore, although the surgery was painful its worth it.

if you are'nt getting sick sick,like a flu sick along with soar swollen tonsils,I would'nt worry about tonsilitis.
