? on bands

Zombie

New member
I have seen a poeple loop a band around the bottom bar on the bench for each side. When I do this it seems to not add a lot of tension. I put one band under the bottom and hook each end around the bar. Is this right?

that's how we loop it ,then we center it under where your chest is.wrap it around the bar, pull it through the band, and up cross to the bar, same for other side.man we use them for everything,we do bands for 4 weeks then chains for 4,then back to bands.try them with your tricep work,be creative......
i'm trying to find a pic for you.................

here's one way....

I wish I had a power rack like that. The rack I use is old and doesn't have bars at across the bottom like that. It's a pain in the ass too cause I have to walk 120's about 50 yards down to use my bands on the rack for sqauts. Thanks for the picture anyway though.

no problem zombie, when we first did benches in the rack we used another bar with the d/b across and worked good, then we learned to attach it this way.worked though and yes it was a pain in the ass.

wizkid25- we have the mini bands and green...
mini's add25 at top
pink " 50
green " 75
blue " 100

most people use the blue for reverse band benching...you thinking about getting them??

The mann: so you use the minis from time to time? That's all I have right now. They add 25lbs at the top? You mean if you single them and you mean 25lbs a piece? I did rack deads tonight with them and had each end of the band around the bar and held tight to the floor. Worked well but am trying to figure out how much I was pulling.

Any advice is appreciated

how r ya' b fold,by the way happy late birthday, the pair ads 25 lbs of tension at the top.when you use them for squats and deads it adds 50 for mini's,100 forpink,150 for green,200 for blue.yes weuse the bands on allbench stuff and tri work ,the bands are way better than chains in my opinion.i've gotten obsessed with throwing bands on everything.the only move that sucked with bands and chains was the floor press, there wasn't enough range of motion.have you done reverse band deads??

Have not done reverse bands yet. What about when you double the band up? I put both ends of the band on the bar and anchored the center of the band to the floor.....any ideas?

My mini-band set up for dynamic bench day today.

The safety pins are about 1-1.5" off of my chest and the bands were decently tight on the bar then. Any idea what kind of weight difference I am looking at?

Was also going to start to use my bands with my overhead log clean and press. Any idea what kind of difference in weight it would make?

Thanks

What is it that's anchoring the bands in that picture? The bottom of the rack, or that brick-type thing?

I did 8 sets of 3 reps with 225lbs and the bands like that. Then I did 275 and 315 for singles.

I set the bands up under some machined weights. A friend of mine gave them to me just in case I could use them for my strongman training. The weight 110lbs each.

I get 40lbs of tension each...or total?

Use a 40 lb weight to anchor instead of a 110lb weight and see how heavy it feels if you try to pick it up, that would be a good way to accurately estimate the tension.

Hey guys. Am new to this board usually am on the anabolics one. Saw the bands last year in Denver at the western bench comp for the first time. Anyway can't remember where to get them from if any of you know the info would be greatly appreciated.

I have been using the westside methods for the past 3 months with great sucsess. I am ready to incorporate bands in my training.

Which bands should I get? The mini's first? and then work up to the pink as I get stronger?
