These Feeding bags.

I mean what the hell. When they dropped this stuff off and I had to take a picture. All of the stuff is for 1 week.

The big white bags are my food. It get's hooked to a pump when I sleep and runs for 10 hours. I Had my 8 year old hold the bag so you can really see the Size of it. LOL I never knew my body could hold that much crap :worried:

OMG you have a memory issue I see. It's called "pancreatitis" which was called by "Pancreas Divisum"

I am not sure how long I will be on this but at the min of two weeks :worried:

do you actually feel "hungry" when its almost time to get hooked up to one of those?

they`re trying to ruin your figure......enjoy..

My last Weigh-in I was 95 lbs. I am pretty sure this will not make me over weight. It has just enough calories for my body and vitamins. I have my very own dietician now.

but why exactly.. did the pacreatitis make it so your digestive tract won't process food? or is there somethign that you are not gettin from your pancreas (like an acid or something) that yuo need to digest food?

I am always hungry. The food does not got to your stomach it goes through your blood stream. So hell yes I am hungry and will not be able to eat ANYTHING for the few few weeks.

Is the vicodin in there too?

No not yet but I am hoping they can put that crap in the bag too so I am not sick to my stomach all the time. It sucks because when I am in pain I have to take a Vicodin to kill the pain, but remember there is nothing else in my stomach except the little bit of water I am allowed to drink to get the pill down.

Wouldnt the vicodin work better on an empty stomach? I would think having food in your system would affect how it's absorbed. Maybe not, maybe it's one of those drugs you need to take in combination with food. I dunno, I dont know much about drugs.

http://health.allrefer.com/health/pancreas-divisum-info.html

Pancreas divisum is a congenital defect in which parts of the pancreas to fail to fuse together.

In this condition, the ducts of the pancreas are affected. In many cases this defect goes undetected. The cause of the defect is unknown. However, if the pancreatic ducts become obstructed, symptoms similar to pancreatitis may develop. Pancreas divisum affects about 5% of the general population.

Some people it works better on an empty stomach. Me on the other hand have not had a real meal in almost a month so when I put something like that in my stomach it makes the pain go away but in return makes me sick as a dog. So all in all not a fair trade if you ask me

how can you take the vicodin then?

Because there is no other way to calm the pain so I have to take it that way until they bring me a pain killer I can put through the PICC line

i'll bet you are good at hand to hand combat, and the use of small arm weaponary?.... ;)

I wonder if I could get one of those so when I sleep my body will be fed and make me anabolic 24/7, hmm.

I bet Jay Cutler already does that.

when you eat food, your body responds by squirting various digestive juices into your intestine - some of which come from the pancreas. CGs duct coming from the pancreas is faulty. this irritates the pancreas, causing inflammation and pain.

the aim of feeding her predigested aminos/carbs/fats via IV is to keep her fed, while avoiding using her gastrointestinal tract, thereby avoiding her need for digestive juices, thereby avoiding squirting anything out of her faulty duct, thereby allowing her pancreas to heal...setting her up for corrective surgery later.

in australia this type of feeding is known as TPN - total parentaral nutrition. NPO stands for nothing per oral - ie nothing by mouth.

you can still take small quantities of drugs orally, since they dont stretch the stomach enough to stimulate a squirt of digestive juice. alternatively you can have teh drug added to your saline, and drip it in that way.

most patients dont complain of being hungry after a couple of days...although their mouth does get bored ;)

imo the bags are as large as they are either because theyre trying to get you to add weight (doubtful...but maybe) or because theyve made it dilute on purpose, to avoid the need to switch from TPN to saline for hydration.

hope your stay in hospital isnt too long, CG...dont forget to ask them to hit you in the face with one of those bags to straighten out your crooked eye, alright ;)

its been done, but its very, very expensive, introduces infection risk, you have a plug sticking out of your body which is very uncomfy (and gets in the way) and really, youd do as well eating a pre-bed meal designed to slowly infuse into your bod, and wake up at 3:30am for another protein hit

I have a buddy with severe arthritic pain. He's smokesspecial cigarettes to help with the nausea related to the pain meds. It also helps dull the pain a little.

doesn't look fun, I love to eat though. All I can say is I hope you get better. Let us know how it's going.
