I completely agree with spart here.Spartacus said:I disagree that based on an internet board participation one has no life
I believe that as the internet has matured most of the population has settled into an internet discussion board or two that they frequent.
you get to know the people and the discussion is in my opinion as real as face to face
to me it's analogous to the high school and/or college cafeteria experience
you hang and chat
with the internet you can come and go any hour
spot post at work
post late at night after you come home from whatever and bullshit before bed
people with no life watch TV for hours and hours
Chat boards are one of many fun distractions a person can do. If you've gotten what you wanted to get done for the day done and are just hanging-out, it's a nice distraction.
For me, I like spending my evenings casually watching TV (but I'll admit, a lot of it is financial stuff), perusing E*Trade looking for "underappreciated" stocks, watching recorded TV programs (yes, I love two and a half men), and working soduku puzzles.
Let's face it... as fun as going out, drinking and maybe doing a little recreational substance or two is great (complete with the pre-requisite fuck olympics that often ensues), it's really not compatible with a hardcore workout lifestyle. Especially if you've got a GF/BF who you'd rather spend time with as opposed to partying hard till 4 am.
