financial difficulty ranks pretty high with causing marital havoc
however I think money comes in to play when you and your partner arent on the same page with spending/saving
otherwise handling very bad financial situations is stressful but not necessarily detrimental to a relationship

imho, the single most important aspect of a successful marriage is complimentary theories about money, then kids, then maybe religion.
