I think C&C has a large number of Plats and Karma was the life-blood of C&C. Playing with K was worth the small donation to the site that it costs to be Plat. COTB is out of my league as throw-away cash.

Take away the fun from K and you cripple C&C and likely lose a lot of Plat memberships. I expect that, once I'm weaned off C&C and this current drama passes, I'll be back to being another Weights Forum non-Plat.

It's NOT the value of the little green dots! Seriously. Were you all so penurious that you were actually looking at how much the dot was worth, then checking to see what that person's K power was, and if they hit you 60%, 100% or 110%???

I wasn't! I just hit back because someone hit me.

But what REALLY, REALLY mattered is that someone was saying, "I saw what you had to say, and I liked it," or some of us used it as a way to communicate, there's one person that I've been having a conversation with since forever, we almost NEVER PM, just Green and "how ya doin?" Green back, "Pretty good, had a great weekend, yadda yadda yadda ... "

Or you wanted a good excuse to send someone a funny picture ... or sexy picture or whatever ... you can send people stuff through K and it's not quite the same as a PM, it's more informal, while still being personal ...

THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, that's what matters! For god's sake don't stop hitting with K, just hit lower. You can send someone a picture whether you're sending 10% or 110% ... it's gonna come back to you.

I have faith in the inherent kindness, decency, and sense of fairness of more than 95% of the population!

A lot of what you've written is what I mean by saying that Karma is the life-blood of C&C: those little K-chats; the silly pictures, often from people you rarely shared threads with. They bonded us together into a community.

On the parsimony aspect, I had to keep track since I would typically get 40-50 hits per day. Clearly I couldn't get back to everyone and I always liked to save some hits just for the training forum to give congrats, thanks and encouragement. I had to prioritize whom to hit and try to remember whom I'd skipped over so that I could give them a higher priority if they hit me again. They are some of the aspects of the flow of Karma that have died with these changes.

The aspect of having to spread K to re-hit someone is now also especially onerous since it further depletes my coffers. I don't want to have to care whether someone hits me back and I don't want my K total going in the wrong direction. There will be less hitting. Rarely in C&C is help rewarded with K. Amusing posts still garner some attention but any individual post's income is slight.

Basically, C&C ran not on rewarding posts but on bonding with people as a group via K (note, I'm not suggesting nor intimating so-called Karma Groups, merely ad-hoc groups of people sharing K-Hits). K movement will be stilted and C&C will take a knock. The hassle of having to spread will further limit hitting since very few will be handing out much of their daily quota. I'm sure C&C will survive but K will become an ever smaller part of C&C and, for many, K was the reason for coming to C&C. The site will evolve and many of us will be waiting in the wings until we see an opportunity to enjoy what it becomes. Having this current change pushed onto us doesn't fall into the 'fun' category at this time.
