What's up everybody?
Ok ok the time has come .. every since I was young I was always told to never start lifting weights untill i'm either 18 or notice im not really going to grow any more, and I think i've reached that. I've now got a year membership to a local gym (premier fitness, don't know if any of you have heard of it, great club) and I would like to take 100% advantage of it.
Before I get started I would like to say I really hope to become a regular here, interact with all of you that share the same goal.

Ok, anyway... Let me start off with my stats (I'm not a big guy unlike most of you)

I'm 5'8
175 pounds
Currently.

Basically i've ALWAYS been an atheltic teenager, so my body has always kept up to par, never really been overweight.. .My lowest ever weight was 155, I noticed I was too skinny.. didn't really like it, so I said fuck it and now i'm 175 feeling chubby lol. My main goal pretty much is to get rid of alll the fat I can (If I were to guess I would say im about 13-14% BF as of now) but NOT loose muscle, just GAIN it. I'm not planning on touching any steriods at all (atleast not for my first 2 years), what i'm really looking for (my goal) is this:

Well im 5'8 so I really don't know an IDEAL weight, muscle mass for my height but I was hopeing to go up as much as 205, strickly muscle. Am I crazy? lol.

Also when my membership takes effect in a few weeks ino i'll get a 2 hour assesment right away, then be givin a diet program and lifting shcedual, and since I really am a fresh mind to all of this I pretty much have to take whatever I can get, because I really couldn't create my own lifting schedual or diet program, so I guess im comming here for second and third opinions. As of right now I can't give you the program or diet I will be taking because I don't know myself but if someone can maybe give me an idea of what I SHOULD be doing considering my goal it would be appreciated.

This all might sound realy redundant to all of you but im really serious about this. I've reached a point in my life where I feel I should only be advancing, and phsyical fitness has always been a priority to me .. so as you can imagine this is HUGE for m, to get this done and MAKE it work. I am a very motivated person, and I will not quit untill I get the results I want. It would be really appcreciated if I could get some educated opinions and maybe even some workouts and things I should look for, or watch out for, or keep doing.. you know I mean?

Ahh I feel like I said too much, and this will get overlooked but it's really important to me, thx for reading people. Hope to read some replys soon!

Protein is your friend!
Start eating right dude and look through all these threads you will find so much stuff here its mind blowing!

Get your assessment first and see what they say

Find out how much bodyfat you have (they may do the BF Caliper test, or maybe one of those Tanita scales, etc)

If you're above 16-18% you need to cut the fat first before gaining muscle. If you're less, you can work on bulking up.

What's your diet like now? Once you know what direction you're going in, you'll know what type of diet you have to follow.

And trust me on this one, you CANNOT build muscle and lose fat at the same time. Well, it's possible but VERY HARD (especially without drugs), so you have to work on one or the other.

And forget supplements, 99.9999999999% are a big waste of money unless you know what you're doing.

Protein is good, but once again, whether you're gaining muscle or burning fat will determine how you will ratio your food.

A child can start lifting as early as he's willing to follow precise directions and not fuck around, great supervised form will not do ANY harm to a child, only make them stronger :)

no no no no, unless you're in a serious gym say with people and coaches that perform in the olympics or something don't bother with what they tell you. I doubt they'll teach you how to perform a barbell squat, deadlift, overhead press, clean etc well with good form.

because I really couldn't create my own lifting schedual or diet program, so I guess im comming here for second and third opinions.

I'll give you good opinions a bit more down

As of right now I can't give you the program or diet I will be taking because I don't know myself but if someone can maybe give me an idea of what I SHOULD be doing considering my goal it would be appreciated. yes

ok well i went through your quote with red to make sure i didn't miss any of your questions and i'll answer the main question now.

Ok your main goal is to gain muscle and lose the fat. Really, it's very hard to do both at once, most people go for one first (generally gaining muscle first unless they're obese to begin with). and at your age, fuck abs for now, get as much muscle as you possibly can before it gets too hard because i guarantee losing the fat becomes easier and easier the more muscle you have.

Ok, first thing: training
learn barbell compound movements. fuck machines, fuck isolating muscle groups. your goal is to use movements that work a lot of muscles at once TOGETHER. think of your body as a single unit lifting in unison rather than a muscle group. learn compound movements such as: squat, bench, deadlift, standing press overhead, barbell pendlay row, chinups, dips. cleans could be beneficial with GREAT form. IMO, squats are the most important exercise somebody could do in the weight room and can benefit the most from them. make sure you go ASS TO GRASS, no half assed squatting.

this article: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224 is going to be something you will read over and over until you can recite the entire thing from memory because it's that beneficial. that article will be everything to get you started and moving in the fastest possible way towards your goals.

diet:
205 5'8 pure muscle sounds like you want to be decently big. If you decide to train using 3x5, make sure you're gaining weight. one of the easiest and best ways to go about that is drink a gallon of milk a day. make sure you get at least a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight everyday. you weigh 175, you make sure you get 175g of protein everyday. make sure you get a multivitamin and i would highly recommend fish oils. fuck supplements for now besides a good QUALITY protein whey powder. creatine should be the only other supplement you look at later on if anything.

cardio:
It wouldn't hurt to do a little cardio but don't get too carried away because it'll get hard to gain weight. I personally hate cardio but do HIIT. 90 seconds of that is the equivalent of jogging for an hour straight.

if you didn't understand something or have more questions please ask and good luck to you :)

EDIT: also don't worry if you think you're going to get too fat by eating as much as possible. if you're using heavy compound exercises you'll be fine, if anything, your stomach will be bloated from all the food you will pack in.

take advantage of the site, there is so much information here, it can be overwhelming but read as much as you can in the treads. make sure you start lifting with good forum before you start putting up heavy weight.

Like everyone else said take in as much as you can from this site, I wish I would of known about this site when I was 18.

welcome to EliteFitness! there's a LOT you can learn here!

Diet will be the most important part of gaining muscle bro. Drain this site for information, cuz theres and endless amount of it.

From what little I remember of the Gayville TO premier fitness, you'll be in for a treat. Air machines, little men in wife beaters galore and no messy chalk or squat racks to take up valuable cardio space.

if you want fruit smoothies, tanning beds and to sit on an exercise bike staring at some chicks ass for an hour then you'll be set.

Hopefully yours is better, if not then it's a long journey ahead of you.
