I'm not a puss but I will admit to being a little "concerned" the one time I went along on a Permitted gator hunt. I won the permit so I had to be in the boat.
Airboat at 10 pm.. You use a spotlight and look for the reflection from the gators eyes.
You creep up on them and snare them with a large treble hook on a line.
Usually they don't fight much until you get them alongside the boat. I said USUALLY...
Then you use a bangStick(basically a 12 ga shell on the end of a stick) to pop them on the top of the head.
The toughest part is dragging a several hundred pound gator into the boat.
The largest we caught that night was about 9ft long and over 200 lbs.
You usually get to catch only 3 gators per permit depending on that years limit.
On the way back to the dock the airboat has to creep along because due to the weight, the waterline is only a couple inches below the boat deck.
