Read this over the weekend. Now it comes from the NYT which is not known to be een the slightest bit conservative - but I thought it was a pretty balanced article.

One really good point it makes is that the Gulf of Mexico cleans up from oil spills a lot better than most places as it is warm and has natural seeps - this creates a lot of natural bacterias that breakdown the oil faster than in someplace like Alaska or the Northeast shores.
