Is it really common these days?

I've been working for very large and smaller companies and every time I've seen this happen.

If you were to find someone at your job, what would you do?
In general it is not a good idea to date someone you're working with but if she's really hot and stuff what can you do?

That's a pretty subjective term. Many people could argue that getting involved in the first place is unprofessional, regardless of outcome.

But the company policy thing is key. But not as important as understanding the dynamic of the office culture and the mental stability of your partner in crime. My company almost encourages screwing around with coworkers, but that doesn't mean it can't bite you in the ass REAL quick.

Bottom line - try to stay away from it. If you have to do it, watch your step and try to avoid drama (i.e. don't lie to a chick and tell her you love her then one night stand her).

Oh, and MAKE DAMN SURE you perform extremely well. Cause soon enough everyone in that office will know things you did and said to her and everyone will know if you are a good romancer or not.

let's say it depends on how good you are at keeping your mouth shut and not making an ass of yourself... NOthing worse that people who are dating and act all flirty and shit IN THE OFFICE... that is unprofessional. Wait till you are out to rip your clothes off.

Oh, and try and not be in a position where one has a position of power over the other... no company policy will save your ass (either way) if shit goes wrong.

it's probably common because, think about it, we spend the majority of our waking hours at work or in a work environment - so inevitably we get to know out co-workers, peers, superiors pretty well, just by default.

I wouldnt even do it. Just the thoughts about the potential drama scares me.
