I went to Ocoee River yesterday..

It is in Tennessee.
It is where they had the Whitewater
Rafting for The Olympics in 1996.

It is a beautiful place.. Has any one ever been there?

I went whitewater rafting there last summer. it's about an hour and a half from where I live. Some good rafting.

The Ocoee river is about a hour away from me. I have been there a few times.

I like the Nolichucky River better though, less people, traffic etc...
Its not dam controlled like the Ocoee, so it makes for some wild rides when the spring rains come!

The Obed river is another good one.

The Ocoee just costs a lot if you don't have your own stuff. Nonetheless it looks pretty awesome, haven't been yet. I'm only about an hour and a half away muhself.

i kayak...10 years ago, the ocoee was the ultimate play river...now it's too damn crowded...the obed/emory watersystem is great...pamela, try section four of the chattooga next time....then move on to west virginia with the gauley and the new....

i got bit by the whitewater bug after rafting the ocoee when i was twelve....saved up for a kayak that same summer, took a course at Nantahala Outdoor Center (in Bryson City, NC) and was kayaking the ocoee by the end of my week long beginner course (the NOC staff are world famous, a lot are former olympians)...i'm 28 now...13-15 years ago if you saw someone with a boat on the roof of their car, you flagged them over so you could exchange numbers, hang out, smoke a bowl...now you just make fun of them for paddling last years model...

What kind of kayak you got? I got a Dagger crossfire and a Freefall kayak. I used to work for Dagger a few years ago, their plant is like 15 minutes away from me. I heard they were bought out and are moving to South Carolina

i've got a riot booster, need to get a new creek boat....you have a crossfire?...now that is some old school kayaking...dagger is a great company....i've owned freefalls, rpms, and a vertigo...you should see their new boats....the g-force or whatever...it's under six feet long, i think it's the shortest kayak ever...but they are also making good general river-running boats, not just the ridiculously specialized playboats/ cartwheel machines...

i grew up in northeast alabama...paddled all over TN, NC, WV and GA...

hehe...yea ,I dont go as much as I would like to,so I am out of the loop some. I like the freefall pretty good...lots of small creeks in my area like the Obed,Whites creek, South Fork area etc....

I met and paddled with Chris Spelious(sp?) Dagger sponsered awhile back. Man,it was amazing what he could do in a kayak! Have you heard of him?

chris was my first coach...spe is a great guy....he's gotta be pushing fifty-five now and looks better than most 25 year olds...he was in the olympics you know...his place on the bio-bio is crazy....
