From today's newspaper:

Gordon Mitchell, a bodybuilder who joined entertainer Mae West's buffed all male chorus line in the mid 1950's and went on to make about 200 B-movies died Saturday night in his sleep at his Marina del Rey home of an apparent heart attack. He was 80.

The article goes on to say he used to hang out with Joe Gold and Jack LaLanne in the late 40's and early 50's at Muscle Beach, in Venice, CA. Also shows a picture of him, and he is yoked. Lived to 80 and buff his whole life? Hell, sign me up right now!

Guys back in the day knew their shit. Training was their lifestyle. In order to look the way they did they had to live a lifestyle centered around eating, training, and rest. That work ethic carries over to the rest of their life, and in my opinion, thats why a lot of the stars of yesteryear are still looking good in their golden years.

I am not trying to start a debate or a discussion or anything, and I have no evidence to site, this is just from my practical knowledge because I have been in this a while. Nowadays, guys have a goal of attaining a muscular, decent looking physique, they can get this through steroids in huge doses, they won't be Mr O with a shitty lifestyle, but they can sure look like what mose of the average people would call "buff".

Since guys nowadays don't make training and nutrition the focal point of their life, and they train hot and cold on no set plan and eat whenever they want, which is usually NEVER enough, they just dont make training a part of them.

I really feel you won't see as many of todays top young guns looking good into their old age.
