oatmeal

If you mix protein powder with it (I've only done this with chocolate-flavoured) and put both the oatmeal and protein in a blender before adding water, it mixes it up real good and chops the oatmeal flakes up into smaller pieces.

Then add some water (or milk if you want) to the blender and whirl it up.... put it in a bowl, microwave it for a while until some of the water/milk gets absorbed....

.... and it tastes pretty fucking good.

Don't microwave it too long or the protein will harden the whole thing and it will become rock solid. Just long enough that it becomes warm and it's too runny.

i like enrages idea the best ill have to try the jelly thing and maybe the protein If i get desprite :) <----- sp

adding protein works wonders. i wont eat oatmeal w/o it. i put water in the microwave for 3:30 and then add it to the mixed oatmeal/protein. mix it up then put it back in the micro for 90 seconds. i actually like eating oatmeal now.

is adding 8g of carbs and 30 calories to much to an already 100 cal and 18 carbs to reg oatmeal ?

ohh yeah by the way im thinking of adding a table spoon apple sauce or apple butter to reg oatmeal?

Get yourself some Musli instead. Rolled oats, some wheat germ, raisins or other fruit, add milk, and enjoy....cold of course. Give the milk a few minutes to soften things up a bit.

I put it in the microwave for 3.33..why move your finger over to get a nice round 3.30..like three seconds matters..I also microwave a lot of stuff for 1.11 or 2.22...or 6.66

Try this if your mouth just waters over carbs like breads. Mix up your oatmeal with whatever flavoring that you choose a few hours or the day before. Microwave it and then refrigerate it. Eat it cold when it's solidified. I have it this way twice a day during the week at work. Tasty!

this is good

Do this, you will like it.

With your Oatmeal add 1/4 of grape nuts and mix it up,
it makes the texture all better.

Adding protein in addition is good but wait until the oatmeal expands.

no bake cookie

add just enough water to wet oatmeal, mix in chocolate whey protein, and natural p-nut butter. Sit it in fridge overnight. Play with the amount of water for your taste preference. I like mine really thick. I use 1 cup old fashioned oats, 2 srv. EAS Simply Whey, and a tbsp. crunchy p-nut butter. 630 quality calories.

When you microwave whey protein you stand a good possibility of denaturing the protein.

I'm with the people above who recommend a scoop or two of protein powder mixed with oatmeal...

Throw in a packet of equal or other low-cal sweetner...yummy

Experiment with different flavors of whey powder - right now I use one scoop of Optimum chocolate and one scoop of Ultimate Prostar Whey BANANA - it tastes soooooooo damn good - I actually crave it like a cheat food....

One more thing - about the instant packages of oatmeal - they tend to taste "better" because they're loaded with simple sugars!! Watch out for that if it's an issue...

My oatmeal recipe...

I didn't notice any posting about purchasing the quick oats variety.

They are just as nutritious as normal oats except they are pre-chopped a bit and absorb water much faster.

My typically meals during the day consist of the following -

2 servings of oatmeal (50-55 carbs) 1 cup
2 servings of EAS Simply Whey (44 grams of protein)
1 medium sized banana.

The banana really adds a nice flavor. You will not even
notice the oatmeal other than the fast that your shake will
be VERY think. It's also a good idea to add many ice cubes
as well.

Seems to go down easier and tastes better when the mixture is very cold.

I was wondering about the nutritional value of oats. On the box it says 10.9 grams of protein, 9.2 grams of fats, and 66 grams of carbs, with a total of 359 grams per 100g. What does everyone think of the fat content of the oats?

Some really tasty sounding recipes on here, I think I will have to try them. I have hated oatment since I was a kid:bawling: ...I know it is good for you, maybe these recipes will help me keep it down:)

Add about 1/3 of a banana (more if u want, but I only use 1/3...my daughter eats the rest!) that is diced up to the oatmeal before cooking it...then after its done ( from the microwave ) mix in one scoop of vanilla or banana pro. powder....this is really good.

add some Equal and some cinnamon to give it that sweet taste without extra calories. some fresh fruit would help too if u dont mind the extra bit of calories

Equal, some raisins (granny smith apple chunks are actually better for you), and flax oil. I even eat on my cheat day. Of course it sounds like you are using 1/2 cup of oatmeal, I need 11/2 to get me to the next meal. It's a lot of carbs at once but the flax oil helps slow digestion a bit to allow your body to use the energy you have consumed.

some of you guys mentioned the fruit stuff with regular oatmeal. I just started eating oatmeal this week but I started with a mix of regular and one pack of the flavored stuff. Am I just kidding myself or is it OK. We are not big like many of the poeple here *you can see by my pic* We are looking to add a little bit of size and a LOT of definition. First, is the oatmeal thing OK? and second, any more suggestions on diet?
I am 5'8" 160 lbs
Wife is 5'1" 95 lbs
and we have two kids to throw into the mix. :-)
We work out 5 days a week.
