Rant: I have no idea what has gone wrong with law enforcement lately. When I was a kid, the police were seen as kind, wise, fatherly (or motherly as the case may be), figures of the community. NOBODY except for the criminals was afraid of them. Now, I'm afraid of them to an extent, as I've been harassed more than once or twice, and I'm a white male. So if I'm a police harassment victim, I can only imagine how much worse it must be for other victims who also happen to be traditionally targeted (i.e. Black youth). Shame on all cops who have these bigoted and bullying personalities, and shame on the officials who hired them.
Off-topic in this case, but there have been too many killings of innocent people by police lately too. It's barely a year ago that my friend of over 30 years, Robert Bandler (an autistic senior citizen), was shot dead in his own house in LA by the LAPD. It was ruled a "misunderstanding", but it was caused by carelessness and a gross overreaction. I see it as second degree murder, and so do all the witnesses.
