Title says it all. Nuvigil is a new drug from Cephalon, the makers of provigil. Provigil is the racemic mixture of Modafinil, Nuvigil is the R version.

Who has tried which?

I tried provigil. I stayed up all night studying for a chemistry test, took the provigil an hour before the test, went to class, then failed the test. It also felt "watery". It did something with my vision that altered my focus. I threw away the rest of the free samples a friend gave me.

i've used both and am fairly experienced with stims. Provigil didnt seem to do much to me when i took a pill dosed at 200mg. I could feel i took something, maybe comparable to something slightly stronger than caffeine and better focus. Nuvigil at 100mg was much different. Stronger. I took 100mg when I had to write a paper last term and went to the library to minimize distraction. Well, I didn't get up for like 8-9 hours. I just sat there on my computer working. I've never done anything that long without a break. I got 100% on the paper too. Nuvigil seems to last like 12 hours, it peaks after 4-5 hours, some euphoria, then slowly wears off.

Nuvigil produces stronger effects(focus, stim) and for a longer time. But can be too much at times.

i had been on 200mg Provigil for a bout 2 years on and off as needed. the only thing i disliked about it was it made me clench my jaw like i was doing "insert any street stimulant here". i told the doc late last year and he suggested 100mg of Nuvigil instead...works just as well...no jaw clenching.

my insurance covers it...stuff is expensive!!!

I've only tried the generic Modalert (india based pharmacy)Out of 30 pills I'm not sure I could really feel anything. I tried 100, 200, & 300mg doses and still never felt much, if anything from them. I tried taking them 1st thing in the morining, empty stomach, full stomach, w/ caffeine, Lucidrol etc. didn't seem to make a difference. Because I do shift work, I should be able to get an rx from my doc for some real Provigil or Nuvigil. I'll report back if I do. In the mean time I ordered some Super Stim because caffeine just doesn't do much anymore.
