I hurt my shoulder twice last year and my last one in Sept i noticed probably around dec or hell i dont know exactly but my left arm , hand falls dead asleep were it hurt like hell when i wake up. In fact its messin my sleep up. But it doesnt matter what postition i am in it will do this. I can lay flat on my stomach arms out to the side and its the left side. Same side as injury. But what is the most annoying is after my wife rubs my hands to get tehm back up my middle finger stays numbe all day every day. Any ideas? You can poke me with a pin and i will not feel it.

You need to go see a chiropractor asap...seriously. I have had problems sleeping because of my size. My arms fall aleep a lot at night. When I lay on my side, my chest tends to cut the circulation off to my arms. You could have some sort of major mis-alignment in your upper spine. Get it checked out.

It could be nerve damage, go see a chiropractor or a doctor, They may have you get an MRI, it could be anything from poor circulation to a pinched nerve, Defintely go get it checked out.

I'm going thru the same. I had a couple car accidents last year. I have a herniated disc in my neck that's causing numbness in my arms and hands. The bros are giving sage advice.

Are there any exercises in the gym that makes it better? I have had numbness before and when I would workout it would get better for some odd reason.

I wish I knew. I'm restricted from lifting heavy weights until I've healed. I was told my herniation isn't severe so it will heal on it's own in about 9 months.:(

I have to moderate weight with high reps to feel something.

Jay,

Before I took my current job, I did a lot of Worker's Comp and Personal Injury litigation, and I can tell you from having read a ton of doctor's reports and talked with a lot of clients that the problem you are having is nerve related.

Seriously go get it checked out. You probably have a nerve impingement (pinch) somewhere between your spine and arm. It might be in the shoulder but more likely it is in the spinal disks.

Get it checked out and let us know how you are doing.

Nerve Related...

Jay,

I think it's nerve related. You've probably irritated a nerve(s) in your upper arm/shoulder/upper back/neck area. The numbness in your hand and fingers is a result of nerve inflammation. Anti-inflammatories may help. If you have an idea where the inflammation is occurring you can try ice (no heat). Massage may also help relieve tension in the area. The best thing is rest and recuperation.

The injuries you described may have caused the problem. Another possibilty is heavy barbell work across the upper back (i.e. squats). I've heard that lifters can pinch nerves in the upper back and neck from the compression. Good luck and I hope it's a quick fix.

See a Doctor

I went to the doctor today about my hurt shoulder and my left arm tingling sometimes and also feeling like it fell asleep. He said that the tingling and falling asleep feeling is usually related to the nerves in your neck or upper back. Maybe it's the same for you. I was in a car accident in Aug and hurt my neck. So thats prob where mine came from. Either way I would see a doctor about it.

I tell ya theres no doubt in my mind its my shoulder related. Its a nerve. I need to get it checked. I take Ibuprofin evry other day and voixe on the others. I ice every day also. Actually my shoulder is just starting to feel better. My numbness in my middle finger last all day, it doesnt hurt and its slight. But the pain at night is really bothering the shit out of me. Thanks for the advice guys i have no insurance as of now but might have to spring for it anyway. Not yet though just picked up my new Glock 45 today! Thanks guys.
