The article is being grossly misunderstood and placed out of context. The article points out that the CD (implemented by the BIS) is limiting companies’ abilities to use racial standards as a means for boycotts. There is a need for resolution in the middle-east and another poor rouge nation w/ a nuclear weapon will not bring that. This is one of the quotes usually taken out of context by my students with the same article: "The U.S. Government stands firm in its policy of opposing restrictive trade practices or boycotts against Israel.” On one hand the title of the post is “Now illegal to boycott Israel In USA”, yet on the other hand the reality is not that the PEOPLE cannot enforce their 1st amendment rights but that the businesses that are hurting chances of possible peace in the region should be disciplined for boycott movements.
After spending many year in commerce, I have learned that instances like this happen all the time. For example, in the 40’s-70’s it was ILLEGAL to boycott Japan, Germany and Italy, same is happening now. It’s a policy of the U.S. government that is not usually released in the mainstream media, that’s why most people are morbidly appalled by it. Trust me guys, it’s been happening to Anglo countries in Europe for over a hundred years....
