When I do the Eliptical or stair climber, no matter how hard I do it, I can't get the same aerobic condition and fat burning effect as running. My breathing rate never gets above 28 per minute even at 160-180 bpm heartrate. I haven't been able to run for awhile due to injuries, tonight I ran a slow 9 minute mile and my breathing was near 60 breaths per minute. The machines just can't replace running.
