But Brazil just ratified the Roman Statute, becoming the 69th country to join the International Criminal Court.

:)

Go UN.

Nordstrom, why do you begin your threads with 'not that anyone but me cares'. Like you, there are some of us here who give a shit about things other than relationship matters.

Well thats nice. I guess i've just been pressured to think that i am the only UN supporter here. Kind of odd, because the governments of almost every 1st world nation on earth (except america, japan & australia) have ratified the Roman Statute.

Its partly a pattern too. I always make a thread with the title 'not that anyone but me cares' whenever a country ratified the Roman Statute. This is my 3rd or 4th post like this.

the u.n. has it's place but not telling the u.s. how to govern itself. it does have it's benefits though.

i do apologize if my 69 remark was out of place, the first thing in my head when i say 69th was 69. sorry. i work at hooters so my hormones are on the rampage these days. :)

the US will never sign up. half its cold war politicians would probably be called up to account for ther actions if they did

japan nd australia......hmmmm. japan perhaps wantng to deny its actions in china (a while ago perhaps but they tend to gloss over it)

nice link :)

one only hopes they will sign up. has the question been raised at all?

i have'nt heard anything about it. i think the ICC is a good idea. it will hold people and governments accountable for their actions in foreign countries. america's problem is they feel since we are the most powerfull nation we can do as we please. one of the main reasons we are hated and thus one of the reasons 9-11 happend.

agreed again :)

About whether we will sign up or not? its not gonna happen. a few months ago bush 'unsigned' the Roman Statute. And America now has a law called the American Servicemans Protection Act, which makes it an act of aggression to try to prosecute an american in the ICC and which authorized us to invade the Hague to rescue our captives.

That will do wonders for our international reputation. Committing acts of aggression against our allies (all EU countries and all but 2 NATO countries (Turkey & U.S.) have ratified the Roman Statute) in order to prevent our citizens from being held accountable for crimes against humanity.

Too bad it doesn't matter what the U.S. thinks about the court. :bawling:

i have tons of ICC links, pro and con if anyone wants them.
