BERLIN (Aug. 3) - Automaker DaimlerChrysler AG said Friday it has completed the transaction to sell a majority stake in its U.S. Chrysler arm to private equity firm Cerberus and that shareholders would be asked to approve the new name "Daimler AG."

"Today a new chapter in our company's history begins," DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche said in a statement. The statement said the closing was held Friday on the deal, which transfers an 80.1 percent stake in Chrysler to a subsidiary of Cerberus.

I'm sure alot of Benz loyalists are happy because the quality of Mercedes Benz dropped dramatically after the merger.

their quality control sufered because of management's rush to push out newer designs and features that had not gone thru the usual vetting and production check schedules than m-b used in the past. inroads on their market share from superior cars from lexus and infiniti shook m-b management to the core; making them foist out new cars on the buying public that were not quite ready.

during this period of dropping m-b quality control and buyer discontent; the profits from chrysler's hot selling truck line kept m-b in the black.

Whatever, my Viper truck will smoke most of these gargabe cans anyhow. I know, i've done it.

Only until you get to the first corner...

and it was the undercover sale of Chrysler to the Daimler that actually made Chrysler end up being less profitable. It wasnt just bad luck for the Germans or an unfortunate coincidence. A lot of people at Chrysler who were keeping the company in the black either left to due anger or alienation, or were asked to resign by the new owners.

What was "undercover" about that deal?

Apart from the claim that it was a merger of equals, when D-B were actually holding all the cards...

The only good thing Dodge ever did was contract out to Cummins for thier Diesel powerplant in the Heavy Duty truck lines
cause the truck sucks compared to the motor.

Yeah well I can burn off all 4 tires at once to the rim and this truck was voted #1 out of all vehicles for massive burnouts. At night all your going to see is a glow of purple thru a cloud of smoke and then a huge flash of cash is going to fly by. LMAO.
