no cardio when putting on size?

I have some theories on this, and i'd like to see if anybody is the same way I am.

I've cut out all cardio during my current cycle. Other than my pre and post workout stretching, i limit my activity to high weight low rep workouts. With this, I've been putting on mass and strength like no other. I figure i'll save all the extra energy for my body to heal itself for the next workout day.

After this cycle, im going to cut back on heavy lifting, up cardio, and change my diet from garbage disposal mode to healthy, and the plan is to get shredded.

Am i being stupid and should i start back up on cardio, or do other people use this same process?

To answer this, I'd need to know what you mean by "cardio."

If by cardio you are refering to a structured regime of exclusive cardiopulmonary targeted exercise of a low-moderate or higher intensity, then yes, I'd agree that stopping the cardio for a period (such as your cycle) could allow you to more advantageously pack on mass for several reasons.

no cardio for me during mass cycle. I'm lean to begin withand dont eat enough as it is. I only step on the treadmill to warm myself up

it is a joke, and a mighty fine one at that ;)

All depends.........if I slam some peanuts, a shake and other foods just before bed, I do cardio first thing in the am.....just what has woked well for me......

if I don't eat after 7pm, no cardio for moi.........

I do a light cardio workout 3 times per week when bulking. I usually run on the eliptical machine for 25-30 minutes at average speed of 3.5 mph. Nothing too extreme. This has worked fine for me and makes it a bit easier to get back into the cardio mode when cutting too.

I would never cut out ALL cardio. You'll have too hard of a time weight training because you'll be out of breath all the time.
I would not recommend the Fukkenshredded windsprint program while bulking but 30-45 minutes at 4mph on the tread is the minimum I would suggest doing.

I agree. I've tried cutting all cardio during bulking cycles in the past, and I gain far too much fat in the midsection (even with a relatively clean diet). It also makes it very difficult to get back into the cardio routine when cutting. For me, the end result was more time spent cutting and more muscle lost in the process. If I maintain 2-3 days of light cardio, such as biking or moderate jogging for 30-45 minutes, I maintain better overall health and considerably less fat gain.

treadmill at 10%, 4.0 speed...35 minutes on empty tank twice a week..........35 minutes on ellipitcal once a week......45 min. spinning class on saturday mornings................train x5.....no completely do nothing days, but some 2 with cardio only.......

Reading this thread I'm again questioning what some people call "cardio."

Fellas, when it comes time for me to go on cycle or attempt any heavy bulking phase #1, my cardiopulmonary system will already be well conditioned for high-intensity weight training and #2, the nature of the high-intensity training will, at the very least, maintain adequate cardiopulmonary condition for further training.

I'm not saying you must dump all cardio exculsive exercise at this period, but going into a cycle your conditioning should already be superb.

It's a walk bro...incline is jacked all the way up...huge strides......and move.....great for hams and calves.....try walking up mt.everest for 35 minutes.......sucks!

NO CARDIO, keep your heart rate under 130, I suggest 120. Anything that keeps your blood presssure at that rate would be good, but the only times i suggest are; in the morning 45 minutes on an empty stomach, or maybe only some glutamine, or imediatly following your workout for 20 minutes, before taking your PWshake.

If you mean cardio for fat weight loss don't do it, just eat less. if you mean cardio for heart benefits go to it.

ahhh 10% incline!! damn

Really depends on your goal and body type. You are relatively lean, I would keep cardio to a minimal as you may have are harder time putting on both muscle and fat. Do your original plan and cut to the bone after your muscle has been added. Someone who is more of an endo will get fat easier on a bulking style cycle and should keep cardio and a clean diet when trying to add mass
