It was jaw-dropping good.
Rangers/Caps; the 4th game, I almost had a heart attack in the 3rd period....how that wasn't a major on Avery I have no idea....

Lots of game 7's setting up.
Caps making Rangers look tired and what happened to Jersey yesterday?
The best series so far is going back to Calgary which should lead to another game 7 in Chicago which is what it deserves.
San Jose and Anaheim also play a game 6 and I have no idea what to expect.

Here's my MAJOR problem with the Brashear thing. It's not the fact that he's a pimple on the ass of the NHL, it's that the loss of Blair Betts, probably a Selke finalist, FAR out weights his goofy ass not playing. The Caps should lose a player of equal caliber until Betts is ready to play again. It's only one game and the Caps are probably going to take it now but I'm just ranting.....

1991 Penguins swept....interesting fact about that year. Ed Belfour won the Vezina and the Calder that year, 1 of only 2 times in NHL history that has ever happened. Anyone wanna name the other guy?

Today's "stars" take a lot more hits than they used to.
There's no way Gretzky would have to put up with what these guys do physically.
Crosby whines too much but I think that's changing somewhat.

we came 11th in scoring.. thats pretty good id say.. in the regular season and in the playoffs
were 6th ..with only playing 4 games? and it isnt one player thats only scoring..
its just too bad the flames are out! haha
and it wont be boring.. because were both physical teams..its going to be a hard series for both teams with luongo and khabulin .. you should know the bulin wall can play pretty well..since he killed your chances last game..

I think the Canucks will take this series in the end but I really like Chicago.

I dont know...hawks are a very fun team to watch....ane fans like myself have waited a long time for this team to compete again....so its great to watch them again...NHL is much more fun to watch than baskeball...imo..

I couldn't agree with you more. Exciting young team... I'll probably be pulling for them over Vancouver.
We're the minority. NHL television ratings are up but not even in same universe when compared to NBA.
Not televising home games=more people going to home games is the smartest PR move I've ever heard

I cant believe how many penalies the hawks got in the first two periods, they were shorthanded most of the time...thats what killed them yesterday...3rd period they didnt have as many and they dominated the third....i think game two will be a different outcome, i can see the nastiness coming out

Yeah, for such a young team you have to admire their tenacity. Down 2-0, 3-0 they just never give up. Hard not to like them.

Yup, lots of good puck this weekend....Todd Marchant; never did anything for the Rangers...Marc Savard; never did anything for the Rangers....now they're all over the headlines....Ugh!
(In his defense Todd Marchant never really made it to the NHL with the Rangers before he was traded for Craig MacTavisch so I can't get on him too bad!)

#39 is Steckel. I'd never noticed him before the playoffs but he's been good notwithstanding that play.
The stars were the stars in this game. Hat tricks for each albeit a little more dramatic as always for Ovechkin. As everyone keeps saying we haven't seen Malkin yet.
tonight should be good with Vancouver at Chicago and Detroit-Anaheim.

I would normally agree with you about detroit...but the west looks wide open.

I figured Pittsburgh to win one of the two home games, and this was it...though just barely. Washington is giving them all they can handle in spite of several of their top guns sleepwalking. They won't be asleep much longer most likely, and when that happens...the Pens are toast.

Varlamov was the reason the game was even close. Caps got a lucky bounce for an open net goal for Ovechkin to start the game and pp in last couple minutes to tie and send it to OT.
Ovechkin is great to watch. Hope an injury doesn't cut short his career but love his wreckless enthusiasm and that's the only way he can play. Full out.
Carolina is pushing back. Something the habs didn't/couldn't.

I was happy with the outcome of both games tonight. The Wings whipping Anaheim was a thing of beauty...the only way it could have been better is if somebody had snapped that dirty little shit Corey Perry in half. A Chicago-Detroit Western final would be the best hockey to watch, so I'm pulling for them both to advance.

I dont think chicago got lucky they dominated that game...once vancouver scored the one goal they played from the neutral zone back...always had 3-4 guys back...reminded me of the devils from a few years ago...vancouver only had 15 shots all game and only one good scoring chance and that was in ot....if it wasnt for luongo hawks would have had 3 goals in the regulation...they deserved this win. Not taking anything away from vancouver...i just think chi deserved this win...this is going to go to game 7 for sure....what a series.

i gotta agree with seaking420. I got home late and only saw last half of 3rd period but I just couldn't understand the way Vancouver was sitting back and trying to kill time. They were in control and Chicago was doing nothing. They just kept chipping the puck out or into hawks end giving them opportunities and expecting Luongo to stop them.

This is precisely why I don't want Vancouver to advance...they are BORING to watch. I'd rather see a team like the Hawks playing another team with offensive firepower. Hawks vs. Wings is the best possible series in the west.

Being a goalie in Montreal is probably the toughest job in all of sports....Price will have his day, some of those fans need to be patient...
As far as last night's Bruins/Canes game; HOLY SHIT!!! Carolina was in 6th gear!! They must have all had a red line before the 3rd period. The whole period was in the Bruin's zone....Samsanov goal was SICK!! Did you see Thomas look up @the defenceman after the goal? What was that about? Who missed what?

Some fans and media have ridiculous expectations and show their disappointment in odd ways. Some in the crowd also booed the U.S. anthem, that was embarassing but that bullshit isn't exclusive to Montreal. Certainly not embarassed to be a habs fan, the greatest franchise in history of hockey.
As bad as it gets when things are going poorly is balanced by how great it is when they're winning. Price can tell you about that too.

Part of the reason Price got booed for struggling is that he is just not all that LIKEABLE at this point. Part of that is his fault, part of that is not his fault at all.
One of the reasons he's not very likeable is that he has just waltzed in and been handed the keys to the kingdom without ever having had to earn it. This happened in Hamilton, where he walked in and played the playoffs on a very good team that was going to win anyways, after the team had great goaltending all season long. The other guys got shit on, so Price looks like a bit of a villain there. Not his fault...that was all Canadiens management making that call. Then he comes into Montreal and is given the starter's job in short order without ever having outplayed Huet. Again, not his fault, that was all management. But when they threw him in there and he went into the playoffs without a safety net and shit the bed, it caused many a grumble and generated more ill-will.
As for factors that are his fault, there's his off-ice drinking and excessive partying that has clearly affected his game at times. There's the way he ballooned into a fat pig last year. I know a lot of people are irritated by how laid back he is when playing...he doesn't BATTLE enough...he doesn't push guys in front of him or peek around guys to try to find the puck when he's being screened. It seems like he just gives up on plays too easily, unlike the Marty Brodeurs and Patrick Roys of the world who fought tooth and nail every minute of every game. That certainly isn't winning him many fans.
I know I reached my breaking point with Price the day after he hit his Patrick Roy pose. When he sat down at that press conference and did his little "I hit the pose on purpose to remind the fans that booing doesn't help". In a situation where he should have shown some remorse he threw out a 'be careful what you wish for' vibe, and that's where I decided I had a strong dislike for him. My attitude was "Fuck you, you snot-nosed little punk...who do you think you are? When Patrick Roy did it, he already had 2 Stanley Cup rings, 3 Vezina trophies, and had been the best goalie in the league for the better part of a decade."

He's going to have to live with the concequences now; for his sake, I hope he's stellar right out of the gate next season.
