New Routine (POSSIBLY)

Legion Kreinak

New member
Well, I read that article the other day, posted by DJRAZR. The one that talks about havings an upper/lower body division, doing a maximal day, and an explosive day, as well as endurance training between to maximize recovery and endurance gains. It seems like a good program, as all three branches of strength are being exercised. Maybe I'm just falling into another hole of something that seems too good to be true. You guys tell me.

My only problem here is designing the actual exercises for the routine. The routine would look something like:

Sunday: Off
Monday: Maximal Torso (Chest/Back/Shoulders)
Tuesday: Explosive Legs & Arms (Bis, Tris, Quads, Hams, Calves)
Wednesday: Off (Endurance/AB training)
Thursday: Explosive Torso (Chest/Back/Shoulders)
Friday: Maximal Legs & Arms (Bis, Tris, Quads, Hams, Calves)
Saturday: Off (Endurance/AB training)

I thought that article was pretty cool too...
Heres the thing though man.... Pick something, and stick with it for at least 6-8 weeks. If you keep bouncing around like a 5 year old on a pogo stick, nothing is going to work for you.
I suggest finishing 6 weeks with the 5x5 program you've been working with... Analyze your results, how it makes you feel. If it feels like its either getting stale, or the results that you are looking for aren't even remotely being delivered.... switch over to this new program...
But its very unproductive switching your routine this extremely every 2-3 weeks...
Just trying to help.. don't take this negatively...

First, I think you have an attitude problem ( I think this has been discussed earlier).

Second, would you do yourself a favor and stay on one program a bit longer than 1 week? Changing routines all the time gets you nowhere.

Squat 2 to 3 times a week( high or low reps, whatever), do the basic stuff(OHP's, rows, chins, dips, bench, curls, deads yada yada yada) and drink lots of milk.

Old-fashioned? Maybe. But who cares, as long as it woks?

I know I have an attitude problem, and I'm glad. I like to piss people off, I really couldn't give a fuck less man.

But in terms of staying on a program, if you read upward a lil' I said I'm sticking with the 5x5, but am curious as to what this routine should/would look like, and whether or not it's worth my time AFTER I finish this routine.

Plus, you must excuse the previous post to some degree, as I was a lil' stoned/intoxicated last night.

I you feel this way, do you still expect people to help you on designing a routine?

Pick something you like and run with it. If you keep changing things up, you will never know what will work for you.

This is not conducive for training!! This destructive behavior will affect you in the long run. You are hurting your protein metabolism and destroying your lung capacity. How will your body ever recover?

you sure are tough for someone who deadlifts 80 lbs.

for your sake, hope you don't piss anybody off in person, you'll get your ass kicked

i thought nobody in this place would ever try to talk down to someone because of their lifts. i sure hope that doesnt change

also, legion said it was one of his first times doing deads, and that 80 pounds was way too light

What type of exercises are you planning on using in this routine? The only thing I don't like is how the routine involves training arms the day after the larger torso muscle groups. As far as legs are concerned, I would train them alone. Leg training will easily drain the system.

Are you wanting to train each muscle group twice a week?

How long do you want each training session to last?

An hour to an hour and a half I suppose, Louden...

That's what I was asking you guys though... WHAT exercises should I use on the maximal/explosive days? I'm assuming different ones...

Legion,

Where are you currently training? Do you train at home or your school gym? What type of equipment is accessible to you?

One more question, what are you specifically training for?

If you want a blend of strength/size and endurance, you can have heavy and light/moderate days.

As far as explosive movements are concerned, stick with basic compound movements. This may include:

Squats
Deadlifts
Power Cleans
Barbell Rows
Chins
Up Right Rows
Incline Presses
Bench Presses
Standing Push Presses or Seated Barbell Presses
Close Grip Bench Presses
Parallel Dips

For explosive power, I recommend performing 3 to 4 reps per set.

For gains in strength and size, perform 5 to 10 reps.

For endurance, stick with 11 to 15 reps per set.

On your second training session for the week, you can include more isolation movements, but stick with reps between 8 and 12.

Yeah scruples back off, don't make fun of people because of what they lift, or you'll sound like a jackass

If you're interested in strength, I would use exercises that Westside Barbell uses for the maximal day, and then explosive day speed work.

Oh, and I agree Scruples shouldn't talk down, but Legion deserved some of it in this case. You don't act like a bad ass without getting some flak.

Haha, hey I was a li'l tipsy that night, so yes I did deserve it. Surprised I'm getting some support though, in a sense. Not often I get that in life. Spiffy! =P

But Scruples, no hard feelings 'tween us, right?

Anyways, Louden... I workout at home with a bench and awning poles which I use for chins/pullups and actually hanging crunches (I hang from my knees and do full situp/crunch things... I just do it for fun)

Anyways, like 190 lbs worth of weights or so, 40lbs worth of free weights only, 10lb ankle weights... and that's 'bout it.

I'm training I guess for everything (Size/Strength/Endurance) and speed would also be nice... so I'm not exactly sure how to go about obtaining these things. If I can do it all at once, then I will definately shoot for that.

Stoned and high are the same thing...

I manage an A average, in all AP classes in school...

I'm in very good shape, especially compared to the others in my school, and I run faster than alot of kids on track, and have a better arm than our fuckin' school's QB (which is SAD) he can just spiral better...

Do I care what the fuck you think? No.
Does EVERYONE in my school smoke/drink excessively, when I do it once in awhile to lighten up life when things are rough? Yes, they do.
Does that make it right? NO. Do I care though? NO!

Shut the fuck up. Go to Harlem... go to fuckin' Amsterdam. You'll see ten year olds eatin' shrooms and snortin' cocaine I'm sure. Come to my fuckin' school and see the same shit.

Don't make a fuckin' post unless you're gonna give some input on my output (the question, in this case).

Anyway, I know what you mean, teen... go by feel alot of the time, true. But I'm just asking for generalizations, and that's what I go by most of the time.

This is my current Friday night routine (I just started last week)

3 hits of skunk weed

I watched the movie "Friday" last night and wondering what you guys think of this:

1 40oz Colt 45
2 hits of angel dust

DISCLAIMER: I ask a lot of questions but I know everything. So if you give me advice I will tell you a hundred reasons why you are wrong or just ask why?,why?,why?, etc... oh, I almost forgot flame!,flame!,flame!, etc... I will make you sorry you ever gave me advice.:FRlol:

excellent

Hey Legion, I do know that stoned and high are synonyms.

Who gives a shit if those jackasses in places you mentioned do drugs? Does it justify your use somehow? No. To bring up such point is, actually, irrelevant.

No matter how many people do a stupid thing, it still is one.

TO ALL MY WEED SMOKIN' BROS! :

Fuck you. :fro:
