New road bicycle made for inner city commuting sold without brakes ... wtf???

Can't you set them up to coast "freewheel"

I like the idea of a single speed bike.
The Langster probably has a freewheel on the other side; if you take off the rear wheel and flip it around.

Mine is aluminum... Chic, all Campagnolo components. I push and pull, I know how to ride.

many of the best riders started racing on tracks---if you need brakes you should not be on the track (which is why i don't ride velo)

As a fan of road bikes, and the owner of Colnago, I just don't see the point?

It teaches you how to pedal smoothly in a complete circle. You probably only push down and and don't realize it. It teaches you to spin faster. I can hit 160 rpm for a few seconds and pedal 100-110 comfortably. It's more pure and simple than having 20-30 gears...almost like driving an American muscle car as opposed to a caddy...unless your Colnago is a custom steel job handmade in Italy (not Taiwan like most of their bikes now) I'm not impressed.

glad I'm not the only one who caught how elitist and ignorant her comment was...
