New road bicycle made for inner city commuting sold without brakes ... wtf???

let me see you ride that bike thru lakeview where the pot holes have zip codes

Fixed gear/track bikes are very popular. I've got one and most every bike messenger you've ever seen was on one.

As a fan of road bikes, and the owner of Colnago, I just don't see the point?

So how do you stop? Is it like those bikes I had when I was little kid where you back peddle and the bike slows?

They don't coast. If the bike is moving you're pedaling whether you like it or not. You just resist the pedals as they go around and you'll slow down.

It teaches you how to pedal smoothly in a complete circle. You probably only push down and and don't realize it. It teaches you to spin faster. I can hit 160 rpm for a few seconds and pedal 100-110 comfortably. It's more pure and simple than having 20-30 gears...almost like driving an American muscle car as opposed to a caddy...unless your Colnago is a custom steel job handmade in Italy (not Taiwan like most of their bikes now) I'm not impressed.
