New neighbor dispute...

HumorMe

New member
A city councilman in Utah, Mark Easton, lives in this neighborhood. He had a beautiful view of the east mountains, until a new neighbor purchased the lot below his house and built.

Apparently, the new home was 18 inches higher than the ordinances would allow, so Mark Easton, mad about his lost view, went to the city to make sure they enforced the lower roof line ordinance. Mark and his new neighbor had some great arguments about this as you can imagine...not
great feelings. The new neighbor had to drop the roof line....no doubt at great expense.

Recently, Mark Easton called the city and informed them that his new neighbor had installed some vents on the side of his home. Mark didn't like the look of these vents and asked the city to investigate. When they went to Mark's home to see the vent view, this is what they found...

humorme, you live in utah?

lol

i have to tell you.. call me ishmael, but i wouldn't be happy if someone built a house blocking my view either.

It was kind of a big deal here. Thing is, the plans and everything were approved through the proper channels.

Mark Eaton is a cheap condascending jerk. The city isn't going to make the homeowner change the vent either.

How would you feel if u had a neighbor that ruined the value of your home, or had loud music all night or did something as pathetic as that?

thats what I'm sayin'.

if the homeowner got the plans approved properly, he should sue the county for the cost of fixing it. its not the complainers fault.

lol....I think it is hilarious.

and Ishmael...I wouldn't want someone blocking my view either but it sounds like he had it coming to him.

It all boils down to property rights. If I have a good view and I want it protected I better buy the land that is in front of that view.

If some ass comes in and buys the land and builds a concrete shaped penis I'm stuck with looking at the damn concrete penis (provided a concrete shaped penis is lawful).

The guy with the "fu*k you" window owns the land and has a right to do what he wants to with it. Considering how the other guy made him take so many inches off of the house I'd be pissed too. In all it didn't solve a thing for him (his view is still screwed) and it cost the other homeowner a fortune to lower his damn roof. I smell the stench of Douchebaggery...

As for a neighbor that makes loud music etc. there are nuisance laws against that but that is not the issue in this case. There is no law prohibiting the building of a house on property that the guy bought fair and square - and legally.

The sad thing about the whole story is that these blokes haven't resorted to the use of firearms...yet

why? cause he complained? he must have had a problem with the house being too tall in front of him.
I would too. and if it was you in the house in front of me, i'd kick your ass AND make you lower the roof.

It's a house that's over a million to be built. Eaton bitched about a few inches and won, costing the guy thousands. I've seen Eaton throw tantrums dropping the "Do you know who I am?" line at restaurants and golf courses. He was a mediocre basketball player, and owns a restaurant that started going under so he got Larry Miller (Jazz owner) to come and bail him out. Now he's like a glorified host at a place that's now a high end place to eat.

The guy shouldn't have obstructed the other dude's view (I would be pissed about that myself) however, I LOVE the guy's comeback vent answer!!!

Sooooooooo my style!

That's fuckin hilarious.

Like justinjones said, Easton should have thought ahead and bought that land years ago.

I mean it sucks he lost the view and all, but to stoop so slow as to cost the other guy thousands for a benefit of 27 inches of view is fuckin pathetic.
