New here and saying Hi!

I did a intro on the chat board, but I want to introduce myself here too. Men are great but advice (and some of the progress pics I have seen from here! WOW!!!) from women just seems to be more likely to be on target.... Not that men don't know about womens bodies *doesn't want to insult anyone :worried: * but after 10 years my husband still amazes me with his lack of female savvy! LOL! Anyway, I'm 28, married with 4 kids, I'm an RN by profession but I'm staying home right now (dayare for four kids is insane!). I have always been active and fit but I sort of gave up on my body after having my 3rd baby (gained 70+lbs)... I weighed right around 190 for 2 years, but when I got pregnant with #4, I decided I wasn't going to gain 70lbs again and after her birth I was going to do something about the current state of things! :D My baby is 20 months old now and after her birth I weighed 180lbs (only gained 5lbs the whole pregnancy through clean eating and exersize). I went on your typical 1200 calorie starvation diet and got down to 160. Then I added walking 2 then 4 miles 3-4 times a week to that and by December of 2003 I weighed only 120lbs. But I was a flabby and still not satisfied. Most of this last year I have yo-yo'd between 130 and 150 thanks to all the muscle I lost and slowed down metabolism. In October I got on the scale and it said 157lbs. :eek2: I've gotten serious have lost 21lbs since October and 7% body fat according to my Tanita scale.

I'll probably start a journal in the journal section for the purpose of getting advice! I turn 30 in 16 months and I want to look better then I did at 21. :D

So anyway, hi!

<-- thats me on the 13th of this month, I'm hoping to have a new and improved avatar in 6-8 weeks though!

:wavey:

I have been taking pics to actually see if I'm making progress...

Here are two of them. The first is October 27th 2003 and the second is January 13, 2004. I'm on day 5 of the ANPB diet and my workouts consist of 60 minutes of HIIT using hills and speed at 1/3 intervals and using a HRM to switch from 70-80% MHR and 80-90% MHR on my 1 minute high intervals. I am following a 4 day (M/T Th/F) progressive weight lifting program designed by a personal trainer at GHF that focuses on body building. I know I can't gain muscle and loose fat at the same rate, but I just prefered the more aggressive workout to the "get fit option" I was also offered. My Tanita scale says I have 29% body fat while my AM calipers say 18.5. I don't know which, if either is right but the Tanita is good for showing change, even if the numbers aren't right. In October it said I was 37% body fat so thats a what.....7% change in 2 1/2 months. Is that good for a fat loss rate?

oops! better add the photos huh?

You can tell the difference..

Awesome!!!!!!!!!

:D

I think tracking progress with a camera is a great way to go! You can certainly see the difference! You've dropped a significant amount of body fat. 7% in less than 3 months is wonderful! Congrats!

It sounds like you have a good training program set up (though I think I'd personally go nuts doing that much cardio). I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures in a couple more months. I find it VERY motivating to watch other women succeed!

Thanks everyone, for the welcome and the wonderful comments. I wish I saw as much change as you all do.... I still see soft, white mass of pizza dough. :(

Maybe so, but when your body starts shifting around its easy for your self image to become a little distorted! Nice improvement! Keep us posted.
