New baby! Its a girl!!!

Ummm, no i have never heard of that. I spent an entire semester working in labor and delivery and postpartum and never put mittens on any of the newborns. My daughter was born in a different state and they did not do that either.

Ok, I might have made that up. I can't really remember if my baby wore mittens either. But my when my nephew was about 1 monthish- all his sleeves were closed off at the ends so he couldn't scratch with his little nails. He managed to give himself a few gouges though. Little emo in training.

Was she born by c-section? She is so pretty & perfect that one would imagine she would have had to be born c-section. Regular delivery babies look smooshed for a few days...lol.

Her name is Alyssa, she was born naturally w an epidural. 20 minutes of pushing after the epidural and petocn was done. She was a week early from the due date, 6lbs 6oz.

Dude, enjoy it! There is nothing better in the world than having a sweet little baby girl. In about 12 yrs, it's another story. But you don't have to worry about that yet!

You didn't make it up. Those are scratch mittens. They keep the baby from scratching her face. Their little nails are sharp and so tiny that many parents are intimidated to cut them.
