Netflix

Since I spend a friggin fortune every month at blockbuster I decided to try netflix. I have a whole list of movies ordered...Its kinda cool. They send you 3 at a time, keep em as long as you want to and then return them. They are giving a 2 week free trial right now too. I just got in my first 3 movies today. Gonna watch (burn) them tonight and then send em back so I can get my next 3. unlimited # per month for $17.99 a month plus tax. I think I was spending well over $50 a month on movie rentals.

i did that when they first came out, i watched so many damn movies then! watched pretty much every HBO show on DVD too

you're fiscally astute.

i started hitting up the local libraries and they have a crap load of dvds, even R rated. i couldnt believe i wasted so much $$ @ Blockbuster.

F netflix. I'm on there and I'm switching to blockbuster online in November.

FTR, when you join blockbuster online you get a selection of 60,000 movies (about the same as netflix), but you also get 4 coupons a month good for one free in store rental.

So you are getting a mail service collection of 60,000 videos, and four free blockbuster rentals a month.

http://www.blockbuster.com/homepages/LoadBlockbusterHomepage.action

What I'd do is after the 2 weeks is up, get the 1 month free subscription to blockbusteronline. That way you can see which you like better. But I'm switching to BB-online in a week.

I'll third the 'I wish they had porn' mantra.

I chose the 8 at a time plan, burned copies, and immediately sent them back for more.

The only thing that sucks is the turn around time where I live is almost a week.

Also if they suspect you of copying they intentionally slow your shipments down. I think they almost got in trouble doing this so it may not be that way anymore.

C and I were discussing that this week, we spend more money on late fee's than fuck fuck! We just buy them...

Tell ya what, you get Netflix, burn two copies I'll pay half your fee and supply my dvd's and all is gold ;)

I have thought about trying the blockbuster online also. I rent an average of 3 movies a week...which is 14.98 I believe. That shit adds up over time. I go every Tuesday when the new releases come out. I haven't rented as many this past month because they haven't had much in the way of good new releases. Tired of getting home and not even being able to finish a movie they are so bad.

I will bring them to you this evening ;)

netflix is the shit. 3 isn't enough. i am currently getting 6 out at a time (granted, half go to my gf).

do you even know what software you need to burn dvd's? i assure you it's much more than just a rip/burn program like nero.

ok, let p0ink help you out.

you only need two programs (dvdfab sucks cock, btw)

you need CloneDVD and AnyDVD.

AnyDVD removes any and all copy protection
CloneDVD makes an awesome, compressed copy of the entire DVD image (or only the things you want).

both are made by Slysoft.

if you need any help finding them, let me know.

I had them and I was cleaning out my computer and deleted them. Dumb me could not remember the names of the programs so I used the other one. It worked ok for me but I do prefer clone and anydvd. Thanks!

Undercover product placement shit right here!
how much is netflix discounting your charges?

feisty,

do you have the full versions? shareware won't work.

everyone that I burned so far has worked so I guess I have the full versions. I dunno. Guess I'll have to register them. How much does that cost?

I use the BB in store every monthly thing. About $24 each month.

Is Netflix really better? Can someone send me a list of all the movies that they have to choose from? (link?) Cause the selection at the local BB is kind of sucky and you can't use different stores.

uh - registration?

let's assume since all of your shit worked before you deleted them. so, that must have meant you had the full, licensed versions. since they were licensed, you must have already purchased them.

unfortunately, you can't find your backup copies. so i will tell you where to go to get said backups of software you already purchased.

how familiar are you with torrents?

Just go to www.netflix.com. They have a free 2 week trial period too. Many movies to choose from too. I have a list of 50 set up so that when I send back current ones they send out new ones. They even pay the shipping. Its pretty cool.

dood I am a computer idiot. I can do all the basic crap but anything after that is all french to me. Send me a pm if you don't mind. Just give me step by step instructions. The blonde tends to get to me sometimes. ;)

ok, it's very simple.

1. download utorrent (www.utorrent.com)
2. install utorrent
3. follow installation wizard (just keep clicking next. don't worry about your ports not be connectable, since you will not be uploading your own torrents).
4. pm p0ink your email address, so he can send you an invite to a private torrent site, so you can grab anything you want. ANYTHING
5. open up your email and click on the link
6. register at said site
7. go to torrents
8. do a search for anydvd
9. this will give you the results
10. download the one with the most downloads, by clicking on the 'http tracker'
11. this will open up utorrent automatically
12. download will go
13. repeat the same steps for clonedvd
14. once both programs are downloaded, right click them and choose 'view folder'
15. in there is your install file, a crack, and a readme
16. double click install

i might have to walk you through from there.

is it a good one?

Another question.... when I go to BB, I like to hold the box in my hand to look at both sides, read the description, actors credits, etc...

Does BB online or Netflix allow you to see both sides of the box online? Any descrips? User comments?

not sure about that but if you do an online search you should be able to get that info .

netflix has reviews, ratings, user comments, and suggestions for all movies.

you don't need the box, since it is already typed up for you.

Are the dvds you get scratched and scuffed all to hell? It seems nearly every other movie I rent the damn thing freezes/skips in my dvd player. It pisses me off to no end. Last night I rented a brand new copy of American Haunting and had to return it when it wouldn't even load in my player- big blemish in 3 different places when I first took it out. Seriously, what do these people do with the bloody things, clean their countertops? Fuck.

They did get into trouble but it was because they were purposely slowing downing their older customers so they could get the dvds to the new customers quicker.

I definitely noticed a slow down with my dvds..

I only received 3 so far and none of them were scratched at all. I sent them back yesterday and my next 3 will arrive the day after they get the 1st ones back.

good luck on the scratch part, i have had numerous movies come and some i cant watch at all, and a couple were halfway thru the movie and they started skipping and freezing
do u kow if u send a movie in on friday and if you pick a new release that comes out on tuesday, to watch, they will receive your movie on monday and send you a new release out(as long as its on the top of your queue) monday and youll have it tuesday
just a tip from moi:)

omg and watch lake house, its sooo awesome

I only had problems with 1 DVD out of the hundreds I rented with netflix. This was early on though, I bet a lot of those DVDs are beat up now.

I had netflix for a little over 2 years and they started delaying the send out of dvds to me and the turn around went from 4 days to a little over 2.5 weeks. They do this to their older customer base. I have bb online right now but which is working out as well as netflix did before they started delaying the turn around.

Plus with bbonline you get one free instore rental a week which works great for kids movies.
