Nelson's calf routine works

holy shit my calfs are sore. I did the 75 reps in about 4 minutes and two days later I'm still sore as hell. I tried it once before and it didn't really work that well because I went a bit too heavy. I think the key is to use proper form and get a full contraction.

I agree but since when does sore mean that an exercise is working?

Are you getting stronger or bigger calves?

not sure if this is right but i chose a weight i could do 20 reps with waited 2 seconds and did sets of around 5 waiting 2 seconds inbetween each set till i hit 75-100

would this type of workout be beneficial for any other body parts once in a while?

This is now the 50th post about how sore people have gotten, and thats great. But, lets see what happens in 3-4 months, if anyone has put an inchon their calves, then I'll think it sounds good. I probably won't use it b/c I was born w/ good calves.:D

I am another statistic. My calfs are sore for the first time since I started training them 3 years ago. I used the leg press with a weight I could do for 20 reps on my first set and did 120 reps waiting 10 seconds in between sets. I seemed to get a more intense contraction by waiting longer than 5 seconds in between sets, by waiting 10 I could contract the muscle harder at the top and get a better range of motion. My calf never cramped before until last night!:)

I'd definitely have to wait and see what happens with regards to growth of my calfs. but I'll say this, I couldn't seem to get my calfs this sore from doing it the traditional way of taking longer breaks and going heavier. As far as I'm concerned, if my muscle is quivering and sore, I did my job.
