no matter what anybody says about nelson...

he's a solid bro with a lot of knowledge.
you dont have to agree with him but you most certainly must respect him.
Totally agree. He's constantly locking horns with the younger Bio/Chem/Med students who have good information to offer. However there is a University called "Been there done that". I'm not saying one or the other is absolutely correct, but I do think some of the fellas newer to the bbing scene will find that some of the things they read in books don't necessarily pan out in the real world.

Well put Nelson. Dan Duchaine also was self educated in the sport.
And if my memory serves me correctly, Nelson knew Duchaine—or at least spoke with him on occasion. I remember reading his Farewell to Dan Duchaine article a while back when I was poking around on his former employer’s website.

Ashamed.... If your going to talk trash about another atleast post a pic so that I can tell your not some little scrony know it all trying to put down someone who has truely done something.

I will not even justify this with an answer. Your attempts at drawing others into a flame-fest are feable. They are also a waste of bandwidth, storage, and time. If you think your are being funny, think again. Grow up and try to contribute rather then just cause consternation.

Maybe a mod will take note of some of your posts in the thread and take action. Flaming has been disallowed on this board.

Some of the world's most innovative and successful people have had no formal education in their respective fields... having a degree of some sort (not sure if Nelson has one and don't care) means absolutely nothing to me. In my experience, I have met and spoken with many doctors, kinesiologists and personal trainers who have no clue outside of what they have learned in the ivory towers, and bring no original thought to their theories. This means they can contribute nothing beyond what I can not learn out of a textbook and will not contribute to the advancement of knowledge in their fields (my degree is in Kinesiology in case you were wondering). My point here is that I respect Nelson and his theories very much, and his type of thought is original and innovative. Whether or not you agree with his theories he forces you to think and makes you question what you have always assumed to be correct. It is this type of thinking that has broken through ideologies and barriers that are holding us back as a community, so does it really matter what his background is? In short no. Thank you Nelson.
By the way...i took the time to post this for those of you who cannot think for yourselves, and therefore rely on flaming Nelson to make your empty selves feel better are starting to piss me off. Just remember when Nelson's PCT regimes were laughed at...and now some follow them religiously.

A well thought out and respectable response under_dawg. He forces those of us with intelligent minds to look at things differently and question the norm. I like his sometimes controversial style.

Hence the difference between a RESEARCH scientist and a NORMAL doctor.

And while not having a degree is not that big of a deal in simple fields such as business, finance, physiology, and some other ones where all you really have to do is read and learn. There are quite a few fields where you NEED a degree.

And no offense, but blasting out theories left and right w/o backing them up either by scientific reasoning or real-life results = The guy is simply talking out of his ass.

That simple.

Advancement of knowledge.....What knowledge? All I have seen is the recycling of old theories that most people didn't even know about because they don't bother to read.

If he comes up w/ an original idea let me know. Because i have yet to see one.
