Hi fellow members,

I'm an undergraduate student conducting a study on exercise and the positive effects it has on mentall well-being. I know the users of this site are avid fitness followers, and that's why i chose to post this here. Below is a link that will take you to the survey. It should only take five minutes MAXIMUM.

Also, if you have friends interested in this kind of thing, please spread the word.

Thank you

I will be bumping this up daily for the next month as well, so i hope it doesn't get too irritating haha.

Completed it, good luck -I know it is a class exercise, however you may want to get better data on the exposure (physical activity), the way you are measuring it is a bit narrow - this leads to a lot of residual confounding.

Good luck.

Knocking out some poon has postive effects on my mental well-being.

haha yeah it does. well its a broad correlation study so i took into consideration many effects versus relating just one.

Advice for you:

On your last page with the likert-type scale, it is a lot more intuitive for the respondent to answer when the left-to-right order of choices goes from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree. More importantly, you should mix it up so that some questions have negative statements about exercising, like "i feel moody and lethargic after a vigorous workout."

Also,
The second to last page about the life changing experience or whatever is way too open ended. You should at least have some examples so people have some idea of what you mean and some direction to start thinking in.

i get about the order. i put Agree on the left since most people would answer that one. just sped things up a bit. as for negative relationships, i can correlate them by just using opposite answers, but i was mainly focused on positive relationships versus negative. also, some positive effects directly relate to drops in negative results (i.e. i feel more energy after working out. if that gets a strongly agree, we can assume they dont always feel lathargic)

but mainly, this study is for an undergrad class with deadlines so i made it short, yet complexed compared to the rest of the class. if this was a full blown study done outside of class, i would buff it up a lot.

lastly, the experience was an optional question if people had something to share. (i.e., if i took it, my answer would have been " i was unathletic and fat in high school and never really excelled at sport. i decided to make a major change my freshman year in college and since then everything's just been happier and more enjoyable")

i appreciate your feedback though. if i decide to pursue this study outside of class, i will take that into consideration.

Results:

sorry its been a while; i've been finishing up my paper. 162 pages of hell. anyways, here are a few results to throw at you:
-not enough females to analyze a correlation
-younger age groups (18-24 and 25-34) reported the highest wellness levels
-those who worked out 5 days/wk had the highest levels
-those who weight lifted/did cardio had the highest (granted most ppl were lifters)
those three were my main relationships being studied.
there were relationships between questions too. for example, ppl who rated #3 high (self esteem) also rated #10 high (stress reduction).

in a very VERY brief nutshell, those are the results for those who were curious. if you want more, just msg me.

Thanks for the cooperation
