Need some bike advise

I agree minion. In fact I had my ass kicked recently by a R6 on my R1. I'm a good rider, but this guy kicked some serious ass. People go and trick out their bikes to get more hp, but can't ride worth shit. My friend sold his R1 to get a GSXR-1000 cause it's got a bit more hp .. what a retard.

And yeah 150 kph standup wheelies are fun :D

my opinion.........

Since you are coming from a cruiser....

OPen class
I like my bike Honda Cbr 1100XX. Very comfy, especially with 2 people.
In addition to the Suz Eyebusa, See if you like the Kaw Ninja 12-r. I find the seating good, its a narrower bike than mine or the 'busa.

Naked bikes
If you don't want to spend $10K + for a bike you could also look at the Yam FZ1 (a naked form of the R1). You could also look at the Kaw zrx1200 (this looks sort of look like the KZ1000s of the late seventies). Both of these bikes are half faired, offer good seating, range, wind protection, and are under $8000 and less of an insurance risk.

Sportbikes
In addition to the Yam R1 and the Suz 1000...
I like the looks and sound of the Suz TLR 1000. This is a V-twin (All the bikes above are inline 4). Not as fast as R1/GSXR1000-750/929 but has a lot of low end torque. Another you could look at is the Honda 929 and the Kaw 9-R. Both are comfortable. I think the Kaw is really underated. I think Ducati should not be on you list. I like the look and sound but there are more powerful machines out there. While you can get a 996 for $17k+ (not sure about prices around you) the maintance is outragous. A valve adjustment (About every 6K miles ) is $800-1200!
I think Aprilla is a nice ride and you never see many around. Bad thing is you only have select number of dealerships to chose from. Truimph Speed Triple and Daytona are wild sounding machines. You can't really describe the whine/roar of a inline 3.

Runners up

Honda VFR800. V-4 fuel injected bike. Cycle Worlds bike of the year in 98. never rode this one. Rode an older VFR750, liked it.
BMW 1100RS/1150RS/1200RS- big dependable and expensive. will go 120K without "major" problems. I heard jut little stuff goes, voltage regulators, rectifiers etc,. Lots of happy owners.

** Don't get a Buell. You already have a Harley****

I hope I helped. My biggest suggestion is just sit on stuff you like and make another thread and we will help you choose you new "childhood"

You most certainly cannot ride a GSX-R 1000 to its limits on the street.

I'M GONNA HAVE TO DISAGREE WITH YOU ON THIS ONE. I KNOW SOME GUYS WHO CAN AND DO RIDE THE 1000 TO ITS STREET LIMITATIONS. I ALSO KNOW SOME GUYS WHO RIDE BALLS TO THE WALL ON A TRACK.

KAYNE

YAKUZA , good on ya bro. It is it's own reward. Most guys that are awesome "SAFE" riders are also pretty cool and down to earth guys eager to help. At least from my experiance.

KAYNE, we all know a guy who knows a guy, who knows this guy.

What I'm talking about is motorcycles are about having fun. Get what you like, not what a magazine claims is Bike of the Year.

Being "TRENDY" has nothing to do with motorcycling. Leave that to the pimple faced kids with the lil Honda Civic and bumble bee exhaust tips.

Been a harley rider for the past 30 odd years and, I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm thinking about getting me one of those superbikes. I know nothing about any of them. What's hot? Is that Suzuki 1300cc a nice ride? Any better than others as far as make and model? Gotta be quick. Thanks for any info you have.

A V-twin superbike would be a good transition bike. Suzuki TL1000R, This bike has so much torque it’ll rip your nuts off.
