Need some bike advise

Been a harley rider for the past 30 odd years and, I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm thinking about getting me one of those superbikes. I know nothing about any of them. What's hot? Is that Suzuki 1300cc a nice ride? Any better than others as far as make and model? Gotta be quick. Thanks for any info you have.

Ok, lets get serious here real fast.. Exactly why do you want a sport bike? Do you want one just for zipping down the freeway at mega high speeds, or one for speeding up windy canyon roads.. I have many opinions about many bikes, but I'd like to know why and where you'll be going fast (because that what "crotch rockets do) and I'll give my best opinion..
Include if you would prefer a V-twin, inline 4, inline 3, or a V-4. That will help out alot, because they are all so different as far as powerplant goes.

To tell you the truth, I think I'm having like a mid life crisis or something. I'm hittin 50 and it's doin a fuckin number on me. I'll be zippin down the hiway more than canyon roads, I live in Fl., we don't have canyons, or hills for that matter. V-twins are pretty much all I have ever ridden (w/ the exception of a couple of dirt bikes). I'm gonna test ride a few different ones, I just want to narrow down the list a bit. Hence my request for a few suggestions.

Yamaha R1.

omg, we have a sane person on board!

yes the Yamaha R1 kicks ass (my bike), but if you're used to the Harley ergonomic, it ain't the most comfy bike around.

The Suzuki 1300cc (Hayabusa) is way more comfy, not as "finicky" and it'll pop 3rd gear wheelies no problem *cough*180hp*cough*. Also it runs 10 seconds stock in the 1/4 mile, and has a top speed of 200mph. Nice bike... but I still love my R1 :)

GSXR WOULD BE SUZUKI.

R1 IS A BAD ASS BIKE BUT ALL AROUND THE GSXR1000 IS A BETTER BIKE IMO.

There is always a "BEST BIKE" in the sport bike world. However only a handful of riders can ride'em to their limitations.
You most certainly cannot ride a GSX-R 1000 to its limits on the street. You can top it out if the road is long enough, but there is a HELL of alot more to riding a motorcycle.

BUMP, I'm curious as to any rebuttal to my post.

I hear lots of guys talk a good game like their Matt Maladin, but I go to check out there bikes and they have a flat spot down the center line of the rear tire, and the side walls are almost untouched.

Just another foolio faken the funk, instead of just having fun like it was ment to be. Having the biggest and baddest don't mean jack IMO.

On the other hand you'll hear more a mature rider only speak of the purity and the thirll of riding a sport bike and when I check their steed I see the telltale signs of a HARD CORE enthusiast.

Scalloped front tire, blisters on the rear tire that have migrated to the farthest edges of the profile.

I actually agree with minion.... More than likely you don't need the "best bike", you just need one you're comfy on. I will bet my house that you'll more than likely never outride a good 600... No need for the new gixxer 1000, unless you want to do 150mph wheelies:) Same with the 'busa, where you gonna go close to 200 at?? Get what you're comfortable on, and don't worry about passing the limits of the bike, it's probably never gonna happen...

BTW Minion....I wear the edges of my 190/50 bald long before the middle is worn:)
