need paint color help

Anyone here who knows how to match paint color with furniture, I would appreciate some help here. I just bought this home office setup, and have no idea what color to paint the room. I got the room all stripped out, drop cloth down, rollers, spackle, the whole 9 yards. Alls I need now is the paint. But what the hell color goes with this?

You don't have to "match" paint with the furniture at all.

You have a semi dark finish on that furnature, so I suggest going with lighter colors on the wall or else you will end up with a very dark room. Any off whites will do, eggshells, beige, taupe, etc.. just pic something fairly neutral and light that you like.

Velvett could probably give you better advice, but I worked as a residential painter for a couple of years.

Go to Home Depot/Lowes....you can pick up thousands of paint color/sample chips for free to take home and see what you like in the room.

I had them taped all over my wall for two weeks..lol

Well, I want thhe room to look somewhat low toned from a lighting standpoint. I didn't get the fluourescent lights underneath the hutches, because I hate that kind of light...makes people look like zombies. So yeah, I guess I want to room to look 'warm' I guess.

btw: the carpet in that room is a light tan.

just do something off white on the walls, simple and safe.

Lots of people have mentioned gray, but that 1:1 ratio sounds like a pretty safe way to go.

My home office furniture is a dark brown & I painted the walls Sage Green - and that's the name of the paint, from Glidden, from Home Depot - looks very nice.

Edit: and sage green makes the room look very warm & I also have a beige rug over oak hardwood flooring....

we just painted my daughters bedroom in light lilac (like the Disney princess) and was thinking of painting our bedroom red. I never played with colors in my life so I am a bit iffy

If you want to stay with a warm tone but want the room to pop you might want to try a pale warm green. I'm not talking about army green or pea green. it's very soft with yellow undertones. When you look at it you can tell its green but it's not in your face. You may also want ot try one wall soft green and the other wall next to it one to two shades darker to give the room depth. You can do alot with color. Don't be afraid of it. Everyone always picks grey or whites. Yuck!!!! Boring. Go to Home Depot and look at the green. I promise you'll love it!
