Need Info on Humulin 70/30 - Putting my Pops on a Training Program

Hey bros,

Finally, I've convinced my Father to start a workout program and I need to know the best way to accommodate his diet since he is taking 18iu of humulin 30/70 before breakfast, which he eats sausage and egge  , and 18iu before dinner, which is loaded with fat as well.

I know how to use humulin-r regarding the insulin spikes and soforth, but I am not familiar with the blend of fast and long acting insulin and wanted to get some feedback from the gurus.

I told him he should not be eating any fat directly after taking the fast acting insulin insulin or else it will go to his gut, which it has! But I am not sure what to suggest diet wise considering he is on the 70% long acting insulin.

I'll post my workout plan for him in a few. Gurus, let me know the difference between the two humulin variation and the best way to help my Dad get back into shape. The MDs, no offense, havent done much!

Thanks ahead of time, bros!

Well here is the workout plan I decided to put him on. Take into consideration he is 61 years old, 200lbs in all the wrong places, lol, and needs to get back into shape but hasnt taken my advice about strength training until now.

Remember, it may seem novice, but I'm not trying to kill him, just get him back into shape. He has been following these "cabbage soup" bullshit diets for the past few years and gotten nowhere

I'm still waiting for info on the humulin 70/30 before I start on a diet, but let me know what you think. I may post this on the training board but this one gets far more traffic. Thanks, bros!

WORKOUT PROGRAM 11/6/2004

-Circuits on Day 1 and 2 should be completed 3 times; the total body workout on Day 3 should only be completed once. They should last for approx 30 minutes each.
-Warm up by walking on treadmill for 10-15min.
-Stretch prior to each workout.
-Complete each exercise in circuit once before moving on to next exercise.
-Keep repetitions between 12-15, never below 12.
-Rest no longer than one minute between exercises.
-Rest no longer than 2-5 minutes between circuits.
-Weight should be heavy enough so that you feel a strain at the end of each set but stop if you feel actual pain at any time.
-Eat a meal consisting of carbohydrates and at least 30 grams of protein within an hour of your workout.
-Keep a soft drink with you at all times in case you feel your blood sugar getting low.
-Always feel good once you have finished your workout, if you feel bad, or like quitting, call me and we will change it up.

DAY 1 - CHEST/SHOULDERS/TRICEPS

EXERCISES
Chest Press
Incline Chest Press
Shoulder Press
Side Shoulder Raises
Triceps Extension

DAY 2 - BACK/BICEPS/LEGS

DAY 3 - TOTAL BODY WORKOUT

oh yeah, lock him in a room and force feed him what he needs lol ;)

ROTFLMAO :FRlol:

Thats great, thanks for the advice. Really my only concern was about the combo of the fast and long acting insulin. I know all about using humulin-r, but not exactly for his intended purposes :)

Thanks again, bro, and props for the kick ass physique!

Thanks bro, I forgot about that picture. I'm on a bulking cycle, sooo, thats about the only way I am going to see my abs lol

Well his insulin is active all day pretty much, with the longer-acting blends in it. Just have him follow a healthy diet, lower in fats, esp. saturated. Keep some healthy fats in there. Since the slin is active all day you can't really avoid fats post injection like you can with humulin-R or humalog. Xtream's advice is good, just lock his old as up and feed him what he needs :)

Here ya go bro! humulin 70/30 is 70% human insulin isophane suspension and 30%human insulin injection (rDNA origin). it will start to work in a half an hour, it will peak at 4hr. then will last for 24hr. he will need to eat carbs, fat and protein, althoe i am not for sure at what amount. talk to his m.d. on this. xtream is right, start out slow. walk, swim, but no heavy lifting at first. You dont want him to code in the middle of a workout you put him on. lol. Watch for s/s of hypoglycemia, ( shaking, fast HR, sweating for no reason, dizziness and impaired vision). Also watch for hyperglycemia, (frequent urination, extreme thirst, blurred vision, drowsiness, nausea. Always test blood sugar. Yes keep a coke or o.j. with him at all times, for hypoglycemia. I hope this helps some.
